I think the NCAA basketball tourney should be double elimination. You wouldn't do that with 64 teams but I wish the tourney would reseed the teams once they got to the sweet 16 and make it double elimination from that point on out.

Basketball is easy to turn around and play games. If we need to do away with conference tournaments and start the tourney that week.

I think it would make the tournament even better.

No. Single elimination is more fun.

Unworkable. Basketball teams can't play that many games so closely together. If the tournament were changed at all, I'd go to 128 teams but I don't even want that. Leave it alone other than to stop having the Final Four in football stadiums.. The tournament works beautifully.

They absolutely can play that many games. In conference tournaments some teams go 4 days in a row.

Not for three weeks in a row.

Before or after conference realignment? You really might want to pound your hammer on that nail first.

No. And definitely no on the mixed format tournament (single elimination in 1st 2 rounds, double elimination in the rest).

Basketball isn't that easy to "turn around." There is a reason they only play 2 games during the regular season. There is a reason coaches complain about playing games back-to-back in conference tournaments.

We are approaching 40 games now. I don't think we need more. I think we need less.

I don't think double elimination proves anything unless you play the same team twice. That's not what college basketball is about.

Are you high?! Hell no, I don’t want them to change the format of the NCAA Tournament.

The whole magic of the NCAA Tournament is that anything can happen in a one-and-done tournament. That’s what gives you NC State over Houston and Villanova over Georgetown. Why on earth would you ever want to mess with that? That is literally why most people watch!

In the NBA, you pretty much know by about the midway point of the season, much less the start of the playoffs, who’s going to win the championship. That’s because over seven games the better team will win far more often than not. In college, it’s totally different... and significantly more compelling precisely because of their playoff structure.

Double elimination works great for college baseball. However, I wouldn’t wish to see it applied to any other sport other than softball.

Well said... and in the NBA, I don't think they play 7-game series to make the playoffs "better"... I think they do it strictly to give them more TV inventory and to sell more tickets (i.e. for money).
