Even with $$$ as a constraint it doesn't invalidate my statement. Fixing a sport or sports at a school is usually the difference of a couple of hires. As a Memphis fan you more than ANYONE should know that.

We're on the same page, I'm only re-emphasizing Tulane adds no value.
Vanderbilt is unquestionably a value-added University to the SEC for their academics?
What would Alabama do without them?
The last time you guys trolled a school incessantly about their value, they left and 3, 874, 251 threads formed. Just saying...

Thanks, we'll use that as negotiating leverage to negotiate before closing our next deal.Attorneys are so much easier to deal with than G4 Fans.

And so is New Orleans once you've discovered as much as you want about the French Quarter. It's kinda my point.
The only reason I don't outright say Galveston sucks is because I'm not far from it. But given the choice between New Orleans and Galveston, give me Galveston.

Magazine Street. St. Charles. Uptown Garden District. Half of Bywater.
French Quarter is mildly overrated.

That's great, I'm aware New Orleans and pretty much all cities have multiple areas of interest, some hyped and some not. I'm just saying New Orleans' hype mostly comes from that single district and it gets blown way out of proportion. I'll alter my opinion and say that if you're to the west by a relatively short degree or within 75 miles, there's little reason to pass up Galveston for New Orleans (if you've visited both a number of times), particularly during Mardi Gras time.
Between that and the fact that I'm not just throwing Galveston in there, it was just an example.

You are clueless. The lowest estimate has 12mm tourists coming to NOLA each year. Do me a favor, look in the mirror, grab a cucumber and go f yourself.

Jesus man, r u paying attention? It is a deal with a sliding scale. Do u get the ramifications in real dollars? Do u understand that the deal is totally backloaded for a conference with time issues?
The worst are those who say “well that is what the market will bear”. Then why hire any leadership?
Um, Tulane adds no value to the AAC, quite the contrary, Tulane drags the AAC down. Start winning a football game or two or a basketball game or two before getting upset over contract deals.
The rest of us would make more than $7M per with less Tulanes in the conference. Tulane is the bloated Pig with lipstick on it just for being in the AAC.
It's easier to fix football or basketball than it is to create a great academic university or get a million+ people to move to your city.

Are u aware that Tulane was still a B12 finalist and remains one if not the best AAC travel destinations. Not to mention home to the best recruiting city. Oh and also a city that has the highest per capita fball tv ratings. All while being the best academic school in the conference. So terrible.
Btw went to a bowl last year, and the admin has put about $100mm in facilities since joining the AAC.
You should appreciate this fine university. K
New Orleans has better recruiting than Houston/ Dallas/ Cincinnati/ Tampa/ Orlando/ Philly?
Thats surprising to hear. Cincinnati recruited our worst QB of the last 30 years from there, who cost us multiple Big East BCS bids and likely an ACC slot. Otherwise i've never even heard of recruiting new orleans.

Louisiana is loaded with top end recruits. Alabama and LSU pull a raft of starters from the state. The depth is also there as well.
The catch is that there isn't a ton of great QB talent in state.
It's not better in volume than Texas or CA, but per capita it's perhaps the richest source of talent.

According to this article from two years ago it is the best per capita aside from D.C. (not a state).

100% Contract with ESPN tier 3 included
Half of the fb games on espn plus
75% of basketball games on espn plus

Espin protects own self interest if teams defect by reducing payment
No open market negotiations—lazy.
CBS is now an enemy, as they got shut out. See P6 basketball graphics.
Aresco gets a cartel 5 salary. Paid way too much for what he does.
I know this is water under the bridge, but the commissioner/presidents made too many concessions that favor ESPN in the contract to me. They get all of our 3rd tier program rights (I.e., one if the reasons UConn is leaving). They get the right to renegotiate if teams leave, but we’re stuff with the same contract for 12 years or so. They at least could have adjusted for inflation. Last, but not least, no major bowl ties outside of the possible NY6 Bowl game.
If the length of the contract had been 6 years or so like they do with the P5 programs, I would have been cool. But 12 years when you know program expenses are going to go up ...
