Looks like a fantastic hire by Shawn Elliott.
Lawing had decades of coaching experiences at P5 schools like USC, Florida, Florida State, and Michigan State. Lawing's specialty is DL, known for developing talents like Jadeveon Clowney and Melvin Ingram. He is also known as fantastic recruiter in the Southeast with existing network of high school pipelines stretching from Florida to Carolinas.
Quote from Brad Lawing.
“I trust Shawn,” Lawing said. “I had no idea what (Georgia State) had going on until I went down there to talk to him. In my opinion, they have patterned themselves after Central Florida. It’s a neat opportunity. I will probably never reap the benefits of the final product because I’ll be too old, but I’m happy to help them get there.”

RE: Brad Lawing Joins GSU Staff
Georgia State has many advantages to grow into a successful program. At times they may have stepped on the gas too fast, but when opportunity is present, then you have to take advantage of it. Fortunately they have lots of cash to fix many the problems that exist in a young program. Building that fan base is difficult especially with the loyalty that exist in North GA with UGA and GT. Hiring a solid staff is never a bad idea
