Kind of confused by the point of the article. I get its a quirk that UL and Tulane are playing in Orlando, but the entire point of bowl games is to get teams look at different places.

If we allowed only our Louisiana teams to fill the NOLA bowl, than teams like App/GS/Troy/AState are constantly left filling the Alabama based bowls, and don't get a chance to play different teams.

Plus, the AAC isn't even tied into the game.

The NOLA committee should have tried some swaps if they wanted Tulane. I'm sure the Cure would have liked a SBC #2 vs CUSA #2 and NOLA would have liked Tulane.

Every team's players/fans need to experience NOB at least once. Glad that the NOB was given to the champ this year. Glad that App and their fans will get to experience New Orleans. Yeah, it's an after thought for the city but your fans and players get to experience New Orleans and it's food/history/party scene and get to play in an NFL stadium with perfect weather. Nothing like partying with thousands of other fans on the streets of New Orleans into the wee hours of the morning.

Mobile goes all out for the bowl and the bowl experience is first rate, but as a fan, having to sit in the cold metal bleachers of a stadium we already played in this year is a lot less appealing. Don't get me wrong, ecstatic that Troy is playing in a close bowl game, and Dauphin St. is no slouch, just hoping for great weather on Saturday the 22nd!

As far as no Louisiana teams... it didn't work out this year, but the Cajuns seem to be back on track to have a shot at being there year in and year out. Hopefully ULM will have an opportunity soon as well.

I’m glad we are going to Orlando. It’s bs that we get Tulane though.

With the price of hotels in NOLA, and the likelihood my crew would have stayed 3 nights over there, we probably got off better financially with the Cure bowl. We found three tickets on Frontier for $375 total and booked two nights at a Holiday Inn Express with points. Will be a pretty low cost trip overall.

Tulane doesn’t draw well with their new on campus stadium. When we played them in the NOLA Bowl, it was a sea of red and a few thousand Green Waves.

I read a post on the Tulane board a few days back complaining about student attendance at their on campus stadium. Kids do not grow up with a strong desire to be Greenies and it shows in their student turnout. Their students mostly consist of East Coast money who either did not get into the private schools there or who want the "experience" of living in NO. Many of the locals that do attend have double allegiances to LSU and are only there because of the academics.

As a native Mobilian, I think the weather for Dec 22 will likely be better than it used to be when the bowl was early January or most Senior Bowl days.
