UCF ranking after MM injury
First and foremost, hate to see an injury like this on a player. Any player. They work so hard, eat, sleeping, and drinking football...... and at the same time have to be a full time student. Thought and prayers to MM.

You also have to think about how this affects the team as a whole and the players. Each and everyone has worked so hard to get to this point. Even with Mack at the helm, they were able to overcome a big rivalry game. Even though USF is imploding from within, they have consistently played up to the level of UCF despite the quality of their teams play year after year.

How does one think the CFP committee will handle UCF? Is their any precedent for them docking a team in rankings due to an injury on the team despite the team performing up to par? Looking at the score in a vacuum, one would have assumed MM played.

Bill Hancock was interviewed and claimed that the injury in fact will be factored into their ranking, but I cannot find an example of where they docked other teams for injuries. I do not believe OSU got docked during the year they had to rely on their 3rd string QB. If that was the case, it certainly would be some complete BS if they use it as an excuse to hold UCF back while they continue to win.

They are not supposed to create rankings based off of perceived future performances. UCF performed a blowout victory yesterday. Then again, the committee follows no rules or precedent when handling G5 teams...... so I fully expect them to not hold back. I anticipate UCF holding at 9 despite a few teams losing in front of them.

Think it will be worse than that. Outside of the G5 pretty much everyone sees the injury of milton being the end of ucf dominance. The way they see it milton WAS ucf. Wether that fair or not is entirely up for debate.

Personally if it was any position other than qb i wouldn’t say the player makes the entire team. But when it comes to qb’s they can in-fact make or break the entire team, especially in college.

RE: UCF ranking after MM injury
UCF still looked pretty proficient on offense after Milton went down yesterday & their defense looked even a little more motivated. Don't think UCF looses much in the short term (this season). FB is still a team sport & despite loosing a very valuable piece of the team their ranking shouldn't change until on-field performance says otherwise.

Well, I'm pretty sure the year Cardale Jones took over at OSU, the committee still gave them love...... they still went to the playoffs and won the whole thing. However, as everyone knows, there are rules for blue blood P5 programs, and then there are rules for G5 teams.

RE: UCF ranking after MM injury
Given the injury to UCF QB McKenzie Milton today, I spoke with CFP executive director Bill Hancock tonight about how the selection committee views injuries to key players. He told me, "First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with McKenzie Milton and his family. I do understand that some people want to talk ‘football' tonight. So, pivoting to that, the committee does consider injuries that may have affected a team's performance during the season; Obviously, UCF continued to play well after McKenzie left the ballgame. The committee also does not project what might happen next week. They only evaluate what has happened to this point in the season."

Its going to be hard to drop UCF after the executive director recognized (correctly) that UCF continued to play well after Milton went out. Also, UCF had played one other game this year without Milton. So its not like a completely unknown circumstance going forward.

Best of luck to UCF and hope McKenzie a speedy recovery. Hate to see he won't play against the Tigers next week, even though I'll be pulling for Memphis. I bet it's still a really good game, and hopefully lots of eyeballs on network tv.
