This has become THE rivalry for UH. Last four meetings by these two teams have been split, with each game being decided by 4 points or less. I like that the Memphis players hate us, I hope our boys hate them too. Maybe pride will help us keep this a game.

They have played some great close games—but it’s not really a rivalry. It’s been a big deal because the West Division crown generally goes to the winner. If both teams were 3-8 nobody would care. In a rivalry—records don’t matter. That said, comments like the ones in the article over time can create the real overt hate needed for a real rivalry.
