This is the first time I’ve seen Tim make an uncomfortable decision... so he has it in him!

This sends a tone accross the entire team.. you play like trash and guys get fired. At some point players are going to need to understand the game is bigger than them...

Absolutely

There was nothing else Lester could do at this point. I don't blame Daoust entirely for the mess on Defense, but as the DC he had to take responsibility. There are some players who really left him down, though.

Please, please Timmy hire someone with successful DI experience. Plus, demand from Kathy a full-time special teams coordinator.

We have a co-Defensive Coordinator, don't we? I assume he'll take over until this season is done.

Exactly. Don't let Daoust take all the heat, there are some players who LET HIM DOWN. I hope they're proud. I also hope they never play another down of football for WMU.

Now we just need an offensive coordinator, a defensive coordinator, and a special teams coach!

Maybe, maybe not. You alluded to guys not essentially being invested in the film room, partying, etc...basically not taking football seriously. This stuff happens when a staff lets it happen. Given we can assume that some members at the very least aren't eating, drinking, sleeping football outside of the classroom, Tim Lester needs to sit these guys down and let them know the standard, the expectation, and the fact that we don't have to renew your scholarship if you don't meet our standards and expectations. Because really these guys are just cheating their team and themselves if they aren't invested. And it's got to be weeded out.

HOWEVER, if the consequences aren't set, and aren't followed through with from the guy that runs the program, its on him. And sounds to me like this has gotten away from him already, he needs to reign it in now, otherwise he isn't going to make it through his contract.

I'd also make it clear to Esposito that he is interim. I don't know why when Lester was hired, he didn't take advantage of having an experienced coordinator in David Duggan to begin with.

We all wondered about that. The changes have only started, they have not ended.

Lester better change from being the QB coach to the HEAD Coach and real fast. His job isn't secure either.

Western Michigan head football coach Tim Lester has announced that Tim Daoust has been released as the program’s defensive coordinator.

Defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator Lou Esposito will take the lead overseeing the Bronco defense for the remainder of the 2018 regular season.

Kathy must have been reading this forum and didn't like what she saw, they moved real fast to plug the leaks. Whether it was fast enough or not remains to be seen.

Did what needed to be done.

I do hope they don't go to Espo as permanent DC.
