If Kingsbury is fired at Texas Tech, Brown was an assistant out there at one point. He's a guy they've possibly been keeping tabs on.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Broum decided to stay at Purdue, if that happens than I think Brown atleast draws serious interest from Louisville, SS to UNC seems like a logical choice if the administration wants a coach that methodically builds the program over the next 3 or 4 yrs before they compete for championships.

I don’t see UNC paying $12.4 million to hire Satterfield from App. They have to have a big name on deck that they feel will get the program turned around. I think they are going to move on bringing Brown back for a few years and have him help with the transition to a new coach. By then Satt will have his kids finish high school in Boone where they are making great money and the family are treated like local celebrities.

I think Satt is a great coach, but I don’t see a P5 paying $12 million to get him, and that is essentially what UNC would be doing.

Flawed logic. Fedora's buyout is $12 million. If they've decided to fire him, that's what it costs to get rid of him.

They're not paying $12 million to hire Satterfield (if that's what happens). They're paying whatever it costs to buyout Satterfield plus the new contract. The buyout to Fedora is sunken cost.

I disagree. You don’t pay $12 million to buy out a coach without a plan. Hiring Satterfield in the wake of a $12m buyout is what doesn’t make sense. He’s a good coach, but he’s not worth that, and likely goes nowhere if UNC doesn’t take him this year. It makes no sense. What does make sense is for Brown to come in and handle the executive issues to get the program turned around so that there can be a smooth transition to a new coach. If UNC knew they had Mack Brown on “go” they move on Fedora now. Not just for coach Satt.

Lots of ADs are dumb about coaching hires.

I don't think hiring Mack Brown is a good move.

Smarter decision would be someone like Satterfield who has proven the ability to build a consistent winning team (ugh that hurt to say).

Plus Mack Brown is going to cost a lot more if he comes in and is terrible, where there's nothing to really suggest he'll be good. You're already on the hook for $12 million and looking to build moving forward. Rolling the dice is dumb.

But then again UNC is a basketball school. So who knows.

UNC probably is a good job for some up and coming coach. They have the resources to be successful in the ACC every year therefore it would be a hard job for any G5 coach to turn down.

Let s be honest— if Satt is offered the NC job he will take it. Any App fan arguing otherwise is just looking thru yellow and black glasses

Yes, but do you make a $12 million dollar decision to hire an up and coming coach? I don’t think so. The folks that are bankrolling the $12m buyout want someone with P5 experience. While Satt is the talk of the town today, I doubt he moves the needle for the boosters who are footing the bill for the buyout.

It's not unheard of for a P5 to hire a coach from the Sun Belt or MAC but you're probably correct in assuming the boosters will want a big name if possible. Some of the better AAC coaches perhaps.

Kingsbury gone. I doubt he is a HC but likely destined to be a good OC. I wonder who Les Miles starts looking at to fill out his staff.

Has to be scary this year for App & Troy fans with these P5 schools that have some ties to Satt and Brown looking for a new coach.
