UCF ranked behind 2 loss Florida. Does anyone doubt the Knights would take Gators to the woodshed?

Houston ranked #17 in AP and dropped out in this committee nonsense servers multiple purposes 1. gives MWC scraps from the table, 2. prevents ranked G5 UCF vs ranked G5 Houston

This committee is a fraud

Very similar to when UCF (10-0) played UNRANKED USF (9-1) on Black Friday last year. USF was ranked all year, lost that one close game to you guys, and then poof.... No more ranking.

Only one G5 team is allowed to make an ny6 bowl.

In that statement is where the truth lies about the current makeup of the system itself. I've said since the playoff was started that even though it added a game, it was even less fair than the BCS. In the BCS system at least 2 could make it from a non power conference, as it did in 2009 (Boise vs TCU in the Fiesta Bowl) But now, the way the language in the contract is written, only ONE non power team can now make it. The BCS you could roll the dice, and possibly not have any make it, but at least there wasn't a cap on a certain number. This is the reality of college football, and they should just change the name to the Power 5 playoff. Because that's exactly what it is. No doubt Houston should be ranked. That Arizona team they crushed just murdered Oregon last week. I don't get how some, especially Mountain West homers can't see the hypocrisy in all of this.

Its all BS man... it really is... i feel its going to take divine intervention to change things.

Well yeah, they got a new committee member for the "eyeball test."

ESPN loves them some SEC.

The SEC is pretty darn good, there's no doubt about that. Still, it is Alabama and everyone else. But once you start looking at the Big 12, Pac 12, and to a lesser extent the Big 10 and ACC. You start to realize how close the American is to those conference in on the field performance than any ESPN pundit would care to admit.

There is no cap on the number of G5 teams that can make it to a NY6 bowl. One is guaranteed, but there is nothing in the rules preventing a 2nd from getting an at-large bid. At-large berths in NY6 (if any are available) are purely done by CFP ranking regardless of conference:

"All displaced conference champions and the highest-ranked champion from a non-contract conference, as ranked by the committee, will participate in selected other bowl games and will be assigned to those games by the committee. If berths in the selected other bowl games remain available after those teams have been identified, the highest-ranked other teams, as ranked by the committee, will fill those berths in rank order.

(Note: A "displaced conference champion" is a champion of a contract conference that does not qualify for the playoff in a year when its contract bowl hosts a semifinal game.)"

Of course, since at-large berths are purely placed by the CFP ranking, the committee just needs to make sure they rank a 2nd G5 team lower than the lowest spot that would get an at-large berth. So, in practice, only one G5 will likely ever make it. But it isn't because the rules are written so that only one is allowed to make it each year.

IMO, AAC > Big XII > Pac-12... but that's JMO

As far as this year is concerned, it's pretty accurate. The Big 12 might be a toss with on the field performances, head to head. But there is no doubt the American is way better than the Pac 12 this season

I remember reading the same verbiage in the early aughts but replace American with Big East and Pac 12 with the ACC. Sports media just kept dogging on the Big East.
