I'll go with this one. People might not realize how tough a schedule Temple has played so far and even tougher the next three weeks.

- Two 7 and 1 teams including Cincy and Buffalo, both of whom are RV.
- 6 and 2 Boston College who is ranked. currently
- 5 and 3 Maryland.
- some very bad teams
- still to play against # 8 UCF and #17 Houston, and 7 and 1 USF, in consecutive weeks.

That's 3 teams that are currently ranked, 3 more RVs, and 7 bowl teams (assuming Maryland wins 1 of the last 4 games they play).

I agree that Temple has played a tougher schedule than the average for this league, but the loss to FCS Villanova is what is penalizing them in the overall. If you did a ranking with more weight on recent play, then I don’t know how you could put Temple any lower than 3rd.

That's the same recency bias that well let an Ohio State team that got WAXED by Purdue into the playoff.

****, if you did that in the Big 12 you'd be Top 15 and a long shot for the CFP.

As long as you ignore that you lost to one of those 7-1 teams, lost to BC, and lost to an FCS team, yea you're good. No way any P5 team with 2 losses when 1 is an FCS, let alone 3 losses would have a shot at the playoff.

I don’t believe the post was a case for Temple as a playoff team, or a NY6 bowl. And despite whether our schedule is tough or not the FCS loss is inexcusable. I think the post is just saying our schedule has not been so easy; I would add we’ve performed inconsistently against that schedule.

Of course not a playoff chance after losing to an FCS game with 2 other losses. That said, the 2007 Michigan team came into the Appy State game ranked 5th and lost that first game as well. They got blown out by Oregon in the second game.

They won their next 8 games (including the likes of Eastern Michigan, Purdue, Minn., and Illinois) to climb all y back up to 13th in the polls. That despite only playing and beating one ranked team (PSU) during that winning streak. Who knows, if they beat OSU in the last game, they may have cracked the top 4. Instead, two more loses saw them fall out of the rankings again, but they still got rewarded with a New Years Day game.

No G5 team could have an identical resume and get so much love.

It was mostly sarcasm. But I do think if Temple had the same record, with that SOS, in a P5 conference...they'd at least be Receiving Votes, if not Top 25. Hell, Virginia Tech was in the Top 25 a few weeks ago after losing to Old Dominion.

Don't the powers that be (BCS/CFP) tell us every year that early losses don't matter?
