Georgia State Fans
Coastal fan living in Flowery Branch, GA here. Heading downtown to the game on Saturday.

Few questions:

1. Best place to park from a safety of my car perspective? I’m 29 years old so walking doesn’t bother me at all. Even if it’s a mile or so.

2. Best place to hang before kickoff (like a good sports bar where I may run into some GSU fans going to the game) ?

3. Do you guys sell beer in your stadium, or are you not one of those cool schools?

4. Anything else I should know?

You would think since I live in Flowery Branch I should know these things, but I just moved here from Houston, TX in February so we haven’t been here long.

Thanks!

I would be interested in the response too. Last I heard, you can buy drinks at the game. Took Marta in the past because I try to avoid downtown Atlanta traffic like the plague. I haven't been to their "new" stadium though...

I also live in the Flowery Branch area - welcome to GA!

I bet. Conway was where my wife was living at the time I met her, so I'm partial to the area. Lived walking distance from CCU. Looking forward to seeing what Chadwell will do for them, like beat GSU!

1) Park at the stadium. Plenty of parking.
2) Dont know if anyone is doing any pregaming at any bars. Its not supposed to rain and its Homecoming so parking lots tailgates are your best bet. You will probably get handed a beer. Or try Six Feet Under on Memorial Drive or maybe Bad Bings on Decatur Street. But with the game being at 2 PM I am guessing most people may be headed straight to the stadium.

3) Yes, Beer is sold inside. Not promising a short line.

4) I would check for traffic/construction alerts.

Cool! Thanks, my friend.

Do you have to pay for parking?

If you are not adverse to walking you could park at Doraville MARTA and take the train(s) to GSU MARTA station and walk to the stadium.

I've always found GSU fans at Taco Mac to hang with as far as brewskis go (hundreds(?) of brands and choices; draft beer too. Was a close walk to the GA Dome but not sure about the new stadium...Surely a GSU fan will weigh in.

That Taco Mac isn't necessarily close. Panama nailed it. I would plan on tailgating a bit on your visit. Eventide Brewery isn't too far. Beer line inside won't be long. Food is a different story.

Next season and definitely next time Coastal is in ATL, this will be a different story as there is a bunch of stuff being built a block from the stadium. New brewery, BBQ joint, etc.

The Taco Mac in CNN Center closed down in March. Closest Taco Mac is now Metropolis on Peachtree Street in midtown.

Actually, that's what I was planning on doing. I definitely want to see how it is now that's the GSU stadium.

The Taco Mac on Peachtree isn't a very long Uber ride to their stadium, and it's also fairly close to a MARTA station. It's a really cool place for pre or post game.

It is a fixer upper. We still have some fixing to do.

MARTA is highly underrated. $2.50 per trip. free 24hrs parking. clean climate-controlled trains. runs continuously from 4:30am to 1am.

This. Marta is really underrated and gets **** on by a lot of the suburbanites that are afraid to venture into the city.

Marta is the worst public transportation of the five other cities I’ve used. DC, NY, Boston, Philly, and San Fran.

DC Metro and MARTA were built around similar times. Guess which backward minded city in the middle of a red state impeded the progress of a rail system (lol paraphrasing my professor's words)...learned this in my urban development sociology class and...pretty shocking.

If you just need to get from one spot close to a rail line to another spot close to a rail line, MARTA is awesome, especially if there's parking at the first one and you have a car or a ride. The hassle begins when those don't all fall into place.
