While Troy 2016 was deserving of their ranking, Troy 2017 was better and more deserving and should have been ranked. This should be the third season in a row with a ranked Sun Belt team.

Ah you're right. Actually I missed BYU too which is even higher. Went through it again and didn't catch any others though. But I'm just going off memory of what conference each team is in.

So although they weren't in the Sun Belt at the time it happened, actually #14 is the highest a current member of the Sun Belt has ever been ranked.

Interesting back story there. It was WWII. There was a Marine training unit in Lafayette. Several of the starters were transplants from SWC and SEC schools awaiting deployment.

Well deserved App! Maybe should be even higher.

Troy 2017 probably becomes the highest ranked SBC team in history had they not lost to South Alabama. That one loss completely kept them out of the polls for good.

The best thing about getting ranked is we didn't have to beat a P5 to do it!
