Week Four Attendance

That's the number GSU claims, but my two eyes couldn't have seen more than 3,000-4,000 butts in seats today. It was absolutely abysmal attendance, even by GSU standards.

2pm Saturday games in Atlanta. #Winning

It had been raining all day and it was forecasted to continue during the game

My wife and I would have been there but I wasn't crazy about driving 100 miles each way in that weather. It's one thing to get rained on when you're in the stadium and another when you're traveling on a dark interstate (and there were storms along I-20 between Shreveport and Monroe).

What can we do to convince the TV gurus to set up cameras on the visitor side of the field and show the home crowd???

Or do like NMSU did week one for TV and sell a bunch of east side tickets cheap.

Well here's the problems with that.

We should get away from this high school mentality of home and visitor side. Also, they set the cameras on the same side as the broadcasters so that when they call the game, they are not describing it backwards.

The announcers are terrible anyway, them describing it backwards may be an improvement.

Any start before 3PM and you might as well pile up money in the parking lot and start burning it. 6PM starts for GS have always done better. Speaking from experience you know how much harder it was being hung over trying to make a early afternoon game vs a 6PM? Plus for those that just want to make day trips who the hell wants to wake up a 6AM or early to make a game and having zero time to tailgate vs getting up when ever you want and easily make a 6PM game and having several hours of tailgating without any stress on time. Driving home is the easy part.

A lot of our fans are upset that this Saturday is our last weekend 6pm kickoff of the season. The rest of our home games are in the early afternoon thanks to ESPN+

ESPN+ is self produced and streaming why does ESPN care when we play? 3:30 PM is good for me as well.

Definitely helped today's attendance that Southern Miss was cancelled. Had it not been the home opener I would guess maybe 13 or 14k.

That number seems awful low given the recent history of the team. Other than games scheduled near Thanksgiving and Week Night games, the only time I've seen attendance that low is for 1st Round FCS Playoff games.

In all honesty, I thought there were more than the 20,084 announced. Hill and walkway behind hill were 2/3-3/4 full at beginning of game. Stands had some empty seats but not a whole lot.

And in Atlanta on a Saturday it's compounded. You can't get anyone to anything before 3:30 or 4 in sizeable numbers. In Sept through about the 3rd week of October you have every manner of neighborhood festival or beer festival every Saturday followed by actual Octoberfests in late October. And it's not as if we do don't have nearly a decade of data to look at. 2 PM starts haven't, don't and will never work in Atlanta unless we are playing GS or a P5 and even so GS at 7 > GS at 2.

Don't blame them. I'd personally rather not be in that part of town after dark. Especially without the safety of a 30k braves game crowd.

Looks like 3-4,000 may be very generous.

I've made the trip to Monroe a few times for games, and the roads in and around the area aren't much fun on a clear night. I can't imagine driving them in a heavy rain. There's absolutely no lights once you get outside of the city.

Went to the Foo Fighters concert back in the spring. I stand by my comment.

And I'm not trying to imply that only Atlanta has bad parts of town. There are areas of Savannah that need to be avoided as well. I'm just glad we don't have a stadium in the middle of it.
