The Temple Owls visit the Maryland Terrapins in the third game of the season for both squads. Maryland has two wins including a week one win against a ranked Texas team. The Owls are off to a disappointing winless start, losing to teams they were favored to beat. Maryland opened as a 14 point favorite that line is now 17. ESPN has MD with a 90.8% chance of victory.

Marylands offense so far is run heavy which could continue if wet weather arrives as expected. Maryland has a stout run defense and Temple has not done well with their run Game perhaps forcing Temple to depend on the passing game.

The overall series record favors the Terps 7-1. Maryland won the last game in 2012 in Philadelphia; the previous game was won by the Owls in 2011 in College Park.

I appreciate the fact that Temple football chose to honor the memory of Jordan McNair by wearing a number 79 sticker of their helmets during this game.

I'm hoping for a competitive game with Maryland winning it at game's end.

For a competitive game Temple needs better OL and DL play and better QB play. Our coaching staff getting their heads out of their asses is most important. Unfortunately I’ve seen nothing to suggest we are ready to wake up.

Frankie Juice will want to win this game for his father, a former UMD QB who transferred to Louisville for lack of an opportunity of playing time.

If Temple can control possession of the ball, playing a running game with Armstead and Gardner behind a fullback (and perhaps a big TE), then I think the game would be competitive.

Come on temple, win this game, heck even Houston has beaten up on Maryland

That would be a sound strategy and is actually what Temple’s recent success has been built on. Hopefully our staff sees the light and game plans effectively. However our current regime is determined to play some sort of air raid spread regardless of how the team was built. When you see conference mates like UCF USF and Memphis make smooth coaching transitions it’s easy to be frustrated with what Collins is doing.

Defensively Temple should go all out to stop Marylands run game. Maybe we’ll get torched maybe not but we should attack the Terps strength.
