RE: ODU vs Liberty
What was funny is Liberty shut the school down the Monday after beating Baylor, which Baylor happened to be a crap team. In their defense, they didn't know it at the time. But, closing the school because you won a FB game, bush league move.

Part of me wants close travel games for opponents to get more fans to games. I want phase 2 of the stadium and im ok with having some away fans creating demand for more seats.

I get it. I just have no interest in playing them. And I like Lynchburg. I just spent last week at Lock'n and did a kayaking/brewery trip there in June.

I'd just rather play teams that have fun atmospheres like ECU and Appy.

I went to the first Lockn, great festival. Funny story actually. Our car broke down in line to get in, traffic was pretty much stopped and people were out of their cars tailgating. I noticed the guy in front of us pour a drink into his ODU Tervis Tumbler. So I start talking to him and explained our situation. He pulls out his tow strap and hooks it up to his big ass truck, tows is right in. Me and my decide to enjoy ourselves and worry about the car on Sunday. Come asunday it starts right up and we drive home. Car didn’t last much longer, fuel pump was going but apparently couldn’t handle all the idling. I’d like to make it back but child number two restricts our entertainment opportunities and I don’t have the stamina for 4 days of straight partying like I used to. Maybe just a day.

What was your favorite act?

Love to hear stories like that. Wish I could say it was an ODU thing. More likely though it's a Lockn thing. So many good folks there.

And I get the stamina concern. We go every year (went from Wednesday to Monday this year) but recently transitioned to VIP because of it.

It was a great call. The camping is a short walk to the fest grounds, the VIP lounge is like an oasis of AC, comfortable chairs, food and beer. The concierge has free water and sells ice. The showers are warm and bathrooms are cold. And no line to get in. My dogs were still barking Monday but it was easier to recover each day with that warm shower and a cold beer. Lot more families in VIP too.

We were most excited for Widespread (my favorite band) and Dead and Company (my wife's). But Tedeschi Trucks were the MVPs this weekend. Killer sets both days. Lettuce doing Jerry Garcia Band covers with D&Co was pretty cool too.

Yeah VIP is the way to go. All good bands. I watched a lot of the free stream last year and thought Tedeschi Trucks stole it then too. I’ve got no high speed internet at my house and I wasn’t going to pay to stream it on my phone this year but I’m looking forward to checking some of the sets. Especially interested in Dead & Co with Brandford Marsalis.

The year I was there they had a tent set up Sat with TVs showing college football games. It was our FBS transition year. We were playing Maryland. I walked in looked at the score said **** it and walked right out. Are you coming to Lynchburg? We should catch up at a game a drink a few. I don’t get to Norfolk as much as I’d like. Like I said, kids. But I’d like to start going to at least a couple games a year now that the youngest is two.

Hell, we had a UTEP poster make an ODU look at me thread. Which is pretty damn impressive considering how middle of the road we’ve been in Major sports.

I would honestly prefer to not play Liberty. But if they're going to pay us millions of dollars to play, I'd begrudgingly accept. Past that, I want absolutely no interaction with them.

I think that is the sentiment of most ODU fans...…?

I agree they could be another BYU one day. Money can do a lot for a program and they have endless funds.

Liberty's athletics are better than Charlotte's though. Even their basketball. Never understood taking this crap back, I friggin hate Appy State but they would have been a 10x upgrade over the 49ers.

clt says you can be our number 2 most hated team behind odu.

to compare Charlotte and this liberty school is insane.

Branford was fun. There was an amazing moment with him right at the end of the second set (D&C had already walked off) during "Not Fade Away", where he would play the instrumental and the crowd in unision sang the chorus. It was pretty great.

As for this weekend, I won't be at the game. But it's for a great reason. My mom is having an F Cancer party after having finished 6 rounds of chemo for stage 4. But I'll be posted up at the home games in the white lot with our Virginia Dead flag. We're easy to spot lol. I'll also be at the ECU game. So let me know when you're coming to town and I'll get some cold ones ready for ya.

My friend, I am so happy for your mother, you, and your entire family! This is wonderful news! My mother went through chemo twice! May you have many many more years of happiness with her.

I know we spar and have spirited debates and smack about our teams, but some things really just don't matter in the grand scheme of life. I wish you and her all of the best, my CUSA brother.

Thanks, TG! I hope your mother, yourself and family get the same. It's an awful experience I can't wish on my biggest enemy. But her strength has been awe inspiring to witness, I'm sure it's been the same with your mother.

My wife and I just can't seem to escape it. Both her parents lost the fight in the last few years. So we're definitely going to cherish this time and party. Even if it's just momentary, we get to finally celebrate a victory over this awful disease.

Cheers to you, your mother and family!

My brother was just telling me about the NFA. His girlfriend said the Lettuce JGB set was her favorite of the weekend. We just listened to some of WSP with Margo Price. Fire.

Great news about your mother. F cancer indeed. I’ll definitely hit you up if I make it to Norfolk this season.

I think Charlotte fans would have no problem playing Liberty. They are only located three hours from our campus in a beautiful part of Virginia.

Nah we just gave them that 2 touchdowns on first 2 possession as a headstart. After all, they gave us 1.3 million to beat their ass up.

Score now Liberty 14 ODU 10 9:55 left 2nd Q

That was a piss poor start to the season and we aren't at full melt down on the ODU forum but if the 2nd half doesn't show substantial improvement and adjustments there will be a lot of calling for Bobby's head.
