Students Singled out and Lectured over Their NRA Shirts Kicked out of Class
Quote:Two high schools students were targeted, lectured, and kicked out of class by their teacher for wearing National Rifle Association (NRA) shirts to school.
The sophomores at Lodi High School in California were lectured about why guns are bad, CBS Sacramento reported.
One of the students was sent to the principal's office for refusing to remove the NRA shirt.
Charlene Craig said her 15-year-old daughter, who was one of the students lectured, was “attacked” in class and was told she would have to write an essay if she disagreed with the teacher.
“I think he's there to teach,” Craig said of the teacher. “I don't think he's there to discuss his personal beliefs.”
The image featured on the back of the shirt was a depiction of the American flag made out of of shell casings with the words “National Rifle Association” below. The shirts did not have any gun images on them.
Lodi High School's dress code states that there are to be no images of weapons on the clothes students wear.
The school administration reviewed the t-shirt and determined that it did not violate the dress code policy.
