Today's GOP Roundup - Collins Indicted, Kobach wins, Corey Stewart, and Illinois
My God, what a day.

First, we have Trumptastic Western New York Congressman Chris Collins getting indicted for insider trading. He's accused of leaving a meeting where he got inside info on a drug trial that was not yet public, then while still at the White House, using a phone to call his brother who conferenced in their broker, to transact based upon the information that he just received. That's pretty stunning. Dude literally walked out of a meeting at the WH, and before even leaving the building, got on a conference call to transact on that information. Wow. NY-27 wasn't on anyones radar as far as a flip opportunity, but it is now. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/08/politics/...index.html The NY-27 CD is the most Republican district in NY. I suppose we can just add another deep red district to the list of opportunities.

2) Kansan Kris Kobach apparently did end up winning in Johnson County. and with it appears to have unseated Governor Colyer. This is very bad news for Republicans. It puts the Governor's office within reach for the Dems and also hurts the Republicans in KS-02 and KS-01. One of those seats is open, the other Clinton won. http://www.wibw.com/content/news/Trumps-...88941.html The race is subject to a runoff and Kobach might not even be assured of being the nominee for some time too. Add to it election night reporting problems and lots of bad blood from Colyer supporters.

3) GOP Senate Nominee Corey Stewart is the gift that keeps on giving. Sure he's not going to win, but here's him saying that Virginia joining the Confederacy was the right idea. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/08/politics/...index.html

4) And in Illinois, there are now TWO disgraced GOP candidates. Adding to the actual Nazi running against Lipinski, we now present. Bill Fawell, who is the nominee in the 17th CD (Rock Island), who has now been disavowed by the Illinois GOP(he will remain the nominee) for 9-11 conspiracy theories.

---

There's not time to go over the bizzarro story about who is really running the VA, and Wilbur Ross.

Nope. been working on other stuff this morning.

Quite frankly, the fear I had was that Balderson was going to win by 5 or more. But if it helps you if you think I'm devastated by it, I can pretend if you'd like.

Leave it to Tom to start a “ round up” thread.
He is sooo political.
Btw, this has NOTHING to do with your sexual orientation!
Don’t even start with the accusations!

No need. You likely have enough despair coming this November that you need a few instances of levity, even if completely manufactured, to see you through.

And Democratic Senator Menendez who the Democrats won't even criticize. Despite Christie's bridgegate making Republican a dirty word in NJ, Menendez is barely ahead in the polls.

RE: Today's GOP Roundup - Collins Indicted, Kobach wins, Corey Stewart, and Illinois
LOL. A few points

1) I meant to say that the Kansas race is subject to a recount, not a runoff. So Kobach is up by a few hundred votes, the voting machines stopped working for a few hours last night, and now Kobach is going to recount his own race without him recusing himself. LOL. It takes a lot to get a Dem elected Governor. Maybe Bob Dole will endorse the Democrat in this race. Lets see if that's enough to do it. Cook political, which is not a left wing group, just moved the KS-02 (Yoder) race to toss up from leans Republican today.

2) If anyone wants to discuss Menendez, who was not convicted on his charges and the state refused to reprosecute. , I'm willing to do so, but please create your own thread.
