Launchpad Rebrand -- Concept Art
So, slowly but surely I'm rebranding all the active areas of the website. Major goals include:

- A bespoke look
- Removal of any use of marks (a problem here)
- Something the fans like
- Something that I can have printed on large outdoor vinyl banners and business cards and then send to a reliable fan of each active team who tailgates at every football game (and at least a few basketball games). The cost of getting sent a bunch of cool swag is you gotta rock it frequently at games and post pictures!

So, with that in mind, let's get some feedback from you guys on this initial concept art:

I like the font. I'm not sure what kind of copyright issues you get into, but there are some cool moments in first part of this video:

First off ... yes, that's a bad ass video.

Secondly ... the issue is taking that and making it something that looks recognizable on the banner graphic at the top. I don't think that video is very "photo editor friendly" shall we say. We're just at the concept art phase right now, we want to get your feedback and thoughts. If you like the concept, the final product would be much more refined obviously. My initial thoughts here were "let's have a rocket arcing away from between the words and billowing smoke beneath the words".

The glass bowl photo you have is outdated. Our facilities look different now. The launch pad is the name of our student section. An end zone shot with the historic stone would be cool. Or any other Google image you can find of a sellout. Bowling Green Photos from 2016 are the best out there.

Probably won't use the stadium in the final. When did the student section become The Launchpad? Did they name it after us like the NIU student section got named after the NIU board?

The perfect logo would combine csnbbs, a rocket and a round-about.

UToledo posters are generally here year-round, I think you'd be okay, something without the football stadium. University Hall is the iconic logo anyhow, that and what you're already using. I like the header as is.

I was just thinking of the concept of a launch pad. But, I get that the image has to be immediately recognizable enough that the average Joe doesn't say, "What is that?"

and it can't be too vague or people won't know you're inviting them to join a message board. I don't get facebook and twitter, I really don't. Message boards, I get. how do you conceptualize the difference into a logo and banner? You can disagree and spar a bit here. Facebook, you just get "unfriended."

I don't think identification will be a problem. At the bottom in much smaller font will be something along the lines of:

"The unofficial online home for fans of the Toledo Rockets
toledolaunchpad.com toledo.csnbbs.com"

I wonder if it might get more attention without the boldfaced? Sometimes a little mystery... What do the Marketing types say?

Simply, I like your header as is, is the nicest one I've seen. I like the font on "Launchpad." It's unique. It's clean. It give depth to a flat banner. The rocket in the Toledo logo is my favorite sports logo. Again, unique, clean, and implies a verb.

A rocket to a landscaped banner, that's not in my brain vision. You could maybe marry the two logos. The rocket dolphining out of "launchpad" instead of "Toledo?" Seems cool in MY head but I don't need the word "Toledo." Once I see the rocket, I know "Toledo."

The first I saw of the marketing term was 2014 or 2015 at a basketball game. White t-shirts for all of the students that read "launhpad." 2 years ago a running banner went in front of our football student section with the words "launch pad." Claiming stake is up for interpretation.

In other words: yes. lol This website has named two student sections in the MAC. That's kinda mind blowing to me.

Possibly. The launch pad would be an awesome "thing" to catch on. We aren't particularly known for wild student sections. It isn't embraced like it could be.

EMU has the Eagles Best. WMU has the Zoo. NIU the dog pound. None are as real as the OZone at Ohio.

Eagle's Nest?

If so that's THREE MAC student sections we've named 03-lmfao

How about something like a silhouette of U-Hall with a rocket next to it, coming out of the booster smoke? ie U-hall tower is in place of the launch tower.

Looks like the lines/stitching of a basketball...very cool looking shirt though.
