Good for the brothers. Criminals need to be reminded that breaking into someone's home runs of risk of possible death.

While I'm all for Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground laws......

If it were a jury, the question would become - "At what point are you required to stop before it becomes murder?"

Using a gun, you shoot and if the creep dies, it's all one action but in this case, if you wack a guy with a bat enough, he becomes incapacitated so was it REALLY necessary to stab him?

Not saying that's how I think, but it's a legitimate question for a DA or a jury to ask.

Maybe they watch too many cops and robber movies where the innocent party doesn't finish the job and the perp awakens to reap more havoc. If you're fighting for your life you have to finish the job or else the perp will finish it for you.

The rule in a problem like like this is, don't do stupid things and you'll be alright.

Maybe if you tie him up and torture him. Other than that, it's cool in my book. Saves us taxpayers a bunch of money too.

The unwritten rule of violently needing to defend yourself is to make sure you kill your attacker. That way they can't testify (read that as "lie") against you in court.
