RE: WEEKEND DISCUSSION: Why are you a SunBelt fan?
I'm a fan of whatever Sun Belt team is playing ULL or ULM on a given day. Though Ark State makes it very hard, I even pull for the Red Wolves anytime they're playing either ULL or ULM. I also pull for all SBC teams (excluding ULL/ULM, of course) whenever you play a MAC, MWC, or AAC team, since those guys like to try to look down their noses at the SBC and CUSA.

RE: WEEKEND DISCUSSION: Why are you a SunBelt fan?
Played football at NLU/ULM from 98-99 after two years at Tyler Junior College.
Im from Cypress, TX so ULM was a 5.5 hour drive not too bad.
I had a few options after TJC.

Ark State was on me hard Coach Yano recruited me. I remember being on my visit when Woodson won the Heisman Mike Tomlinson and Yano bet a case of beer who would win. Lol. Jonesboro must be different now because part of my visit was going to a trailer park to hang out (true story) it wasn’t worth a 9 hour drive to attend A State.

Texas State was 13th grade for me and FCS at the time so I didn’t go.
San Jose State sucked and was super far.

TCU Is where I wanted to go but I missed time my sophomore year and I basically wasn’t good enough for them. Lol

So......ULM made the most sense and here I am. A State coaches called ULM coaches on my visit to see if I committed. One thing I didn’t like about A State was they wanted to look at my knee and wanted me to commit on visit. I said no to both. That’s why I say A state wasn’t too good for me then and it’s not too good for me now when certain A state Fans say things that aren’t bright. Lol

The feeling is mutual

I like college football and stAte is 20 miles away. That was in 1975 so now there is no other team. As far as the SBC it's stAte's conf. so when the SBC wins and we thump the conf. teams it looks good on stAte. All in all its all about us.

RE: WEEKEND DISCUSSION: Why are you a SunBelt fan?
The University of South Alabama is a charter member of the Sun Belt Conference and the only continuous member left. Other charter members were Jacksonville (FL) University, University of New Orleans, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, University of South Florida and Georgia State University (left, then rejoined years
later). I was a student when the school was chartered in 1963. It was originally the Mobile extension of the University of Alabama.

Mostly I'm a Sunbelt fan because it's so much fun to try to figure out where Fed-X will hide our championship trophies. Karl has added a whole new dimension of excitement to trophy ceremonies.

You sound like my son
If the USA isn't in the World Cup, I'm not watching
If the Eagles aren't in the playoffs, I'm not watching
Same for the Philles, Flyers, etc.
Only watched the All Star game while the Phillies pitcher was on the mound.

I mean, I understand loyalty to your school but the better the conference does, as a whole, the better the perception and the more $$ in the coffers. It's that simple.
Serious question, do you not watch any NCAA's if stAte isn't the SBC rep? Do you not watch any of the other SBC Bowl games?

I keep up with stuff. I don’t spend a lot of energy rooting for anyone else though.

I'm kinda with you on that. I mean I want almost everyone in the conference to do good, but some on here seem to think us all actively rooting for other schools will make a difference lol.

They like to act like it’s this all for one and one for all.....like we wouldn’t all be climbing over each other if something better rolled by.

You must have really cried in your beer when C-USA overlooked stAte and invited WKU, FIU, MTSU & FAU instead. If you think the Big 12 is interested, then you may have wait till he double hockey sticks freezes over. 05-stirthepot

Yup. I want everyone in this conference to go undefeated in OOC... Not because I want what's best for your school, I just want my team to have a more impressive win over you.

Now, for us lately, the wins are... mythical things, but that's neither here nor there.

RE: WEEKEND DISCUSSION: Why are you a SunBelt fan?
I went to AState because I wanted to go somewhere that had an FBS football program, and I had a bad experience with the University of Arkansas when I was taking visits.

I became a Sun Belt supporter because I got annoyed with the Large schools taking from the small ones, so why not root for teams in this league. I root for every team in this league, but I also take savage enjoyment when you lose because I hate you all so much as well.

That being said...I will root for any small conference school against a big conference school except for Memphis...(I hope they rot) and UNT because well...I don't like them.
