Once the second deck and IPF are built it will look normal but, I love what we have. Some of the views are jaw dropping.

Yes, behind the new east side stands. Then a second deck over it. The old RF second deck stands will be torn down.

The aerial/marketing views of yours is impressive to say the least. But once I got into the stadium and walked around a bit, I wasn't too impressed. Other than the new east side, there doesn't seem to be a straight line of site with the field anywhere else.

Once the old RF stands are town down, it might make a huge difference. But I have never been a fan of football fields in baseball stadiums. It just looks too much like it was shoe-horned in.

Love, love the brick work along with the overall design of the press box, the ribbon boards really pop throughout the stadium (sideline does look a tad far away from the field but I wouldn't say its a huge negative) only (potential biggie) I have is Texas State fans, please tell me the east side doesn't look like this still...

It's such a drastic night/day difference compared to the pressbox side.

If I remember correctly the facade with the arches goes all the way around

Paulson Stadium...

I'm sure it'll come off as derogatory but I certainly don't mean for it to but Paulson Stadium seems quaint--and that's not a bad thing. The area seems like its your usual run of the mill residential area and the facilities are fine in their design. Though I'm curious as to the parking for the stadium and the general area...

https://goo.gl/maps/FvBq5bZwPur

https://goo.gl/maps/8ZH7DAcJAxn

Is there a particular reason why the area wasn't just made concrete? Is this area converted into a tailgating area, hence the reason for keeping grass/dirt strips?

Yes, that part of the parking lot is the main tailgate area for booster members who purchase spaces

It's an 85k seat Olympic Stadium converted for MLB baseball converted back to original configuration for college football . The only difference is since there is no track we are bringing the east side seats in closer. Can't help you if you walked all the way around it and were not impressed.

It's a huge stadium with 44k setbacks and a huge professional sports club area. I especially love the Plaza area. It's only going to get better inside and out.

You're replying to a guy who called Bryant Denny a glorified high school stadium.

And no, at this moment there's nothing really impressive about their stadium, except maybe the locker room. That may change, but as it sits now there's nothing wrong with what's being said.

Yes Paulson is quaint and before all the additions and renovations, it was nicknamed "The Prettiest Little Stadium in America." Very threatening name, I know. I like what we've done with the stadium so far, but I, like all Eagle fans, know that the pressbox and those stands underneath need desperate attention.

And yes, that is the main tailgating lot and the grass strips are to help keep the area cool. That much pavement baking in the hot South Georgia sun could be deadly during tailgate season. During the week, the parking lot is used as a commuter lot for students which is what you see on google maps. The spots in the lot are wide enough to accommodate large trailers and RVs so several cars can fit into one spot.

It is a tailgate area and I was not a fan of them paving at all as hot as it gets some days should have went with crusher run. We need a south stands / homeside complete renovation no offense taken. If done as nice as the FOC and north stands / visitor side we will have one of the nicest traditional stadiums in the G5. If they go cheap with erector set crap I will puke. I really wish they would buy those old apartments to the NW where the water tower is and expand parking for large tailgates.

Well you are about as unbiased about anything GSU as there is so shrug back. Sorry this board is not drinking your kool aid Jim Jones.

It is nice but will always look and feel a bit awkward. Just accept and move on.

I would hope after we complete the north endzone and start collecting on the revenue from that area the 'Vault's next project will be to build a brick facade covering our GA section

https://goo.gl/maps/pU6DHkxtGzr

the Pines along with the Greeks tailgate set up does a decent job hiding the erector set from the road but its still kind of an eye sore. Also, both concourses still need a little bit of touch up and renovation (particularly restrooms) and like to see some "hang out areas" added (simple high top counter tables, some tvs added, etc)

-PROS-
Cajun Field has one of the more interesting layouts to say in the least...

I'ts just quirky to walkdown into this massive hole (and watching the teams run to and from the field via an underground tunnel is pretty fun). And because of the stadium situated in a giant hole, it helps perpetuate the noise coming from the crowd (the 08 game against Astate I was at maybe had 17,000 round a bout, but during big third down plays or when the Cajuns won it for good in the last second if I hadn't known better I would've thought it was a sell out crowd just because of the echo bouncing off everything.

Doesn't really have to do with the stadium per say, but tailgaiting at Cajun Land easily tops everybody (even my beloved Astate). It has a festival atmosphere and there were many Cajun fans that were more than accommodating and hospitable to my group of Astate peeps

-CONS-
Despite the paint job the area received (which granted makes it look A LOT better aesthetically) the concourse section behind the GA/Student section I feel like is still underutilized. There's just so much dead space (and no covering of any kind for any inclement weather or storms)

Same as Malone Stadium, press box really needs some renovation and expansion--its quite a compact area

[Image: Cajun_Field_Front_Stands_zpsf3npkznv.jpg]

It would be a push to put the current Cajun field in the top 5 conference stadiums. It was built with the "vision" of finishing it out into a completely bowled in stadium, with upper decks on both sides. That was a LONG TIME ago (early 70's). Ditto for ULM's stadium.

I've sat on both sides over the years. To include the upper deck. I really dislike that upper deck. It sits very high and steep! The lower portion of that deck (where my season tickets have been for a while) has very nice sight lines though; and the south endzone added a couple years ago is nice as well.

Most of Cajun fans are in favor of a smaller upper deck with less general admission seating and a lower profile; with much improved press box and suites, etc. Very interested to see how this plays out over the next few years.

Has nothing to do with who the school is that I was talking about or where I am from. I was very impressed by the original photos I saw of it. Once I was actually there, not so much. As I said, when more is done to it, that may change. But right now I have no desire to sit in a seat that's in the middle of the field and faces at an angle to the field that is not straight on. You expect that in an endzone corner, but not half the seats in your stadium. I have no desire to sit in a seat in a seat where the entire East half of the stadium has to turn around almost backwards to see the video board and scoreboard.

The amenities are nice, the front entrance and plaza area are great. You would expect that from a former MLB stadium. But there's not a good seat in the house that doesn't have at least one issue with it.

You know most GS fans won't be impressed with anything y'all have.07-coffee3

*exaggeration for effect*

It's amazing that reviews of the stadium do not mention the seating issues you mention, even from the AJC that wants us to die die die.

I made a homer vote for App's KBS because when you get right down to it, only one thing matters in a football stadium, and App leads that catagory with an all-time record 234-74-5.

So I read that as 234 cases of beer delivered, 74 on order and 5 diverted to the house.
