Everyone recalls the PM between Stork and Gummy about the
insurance policy.
Do we even know for sure what the insurance policy was and how it was to be used?
Was it the Russian-collusion investigation itself with the idea that even if Trump was elected, he'd be hamstrung by the continuing investigation? Or were they perhaps talking about the probability that a special prosecutor would be named?
Trey Gowdy's recent comments about the FBI "doing exactly what the American people would want them to do with the information they received", and the uproar it caused got me to thinking.
We've wondered out loud here why the president has not declassified the information that Congress has been seeking and the FBI and DOJ have been slow-walking. He could do that with the stroke of his pen, and while the FBI would scream bloody murder that he was revealing valuable sources and putting lives at risk, based on what we've seen to date, that's bullspit and the FBI knows it.
Personally, I've believed that the president has not declassified all that information because he'd rather just see it come out one piece at a time. He knows what's there, and he knows it'll embarass the FBI and dims. Perhaps he's just using it in the sense that he baits his enemies with his tweets and then lowers the boom months later with information that proves he was right all along?
Or could there be another significant reason he's not declassified the documents?
Trump, via Congressional investigators, is involved in a war against DC insiders of both parties....the establishment so to speak. Clearly, that establishment also involves individuals from the Obama administration, including Obama himself. Right now, the way I see it, the only leverage the establishment has against the president is Bueller's investigation.
Could there possibly be a scenario where the establishment promises to call off Bueller if the president promises to back off exposing their crimes committed while illegally investigating his campaign and trying to sabotage his administration?
Could that be the insurance policy?
Discuss.
