If AusTxPony had $25 million on his post i would agree with you but he doesnt... His $10 million per figure for the AAC is less than half from what the high revenue leagues currently get.
If AAC has the right negotiator hitters, IMHO the $10 million per is very doable... Now, if the bump $$$ is achieved some type of tie-in bowl for this league will fall in place as well.

The focus needs to be on boosting that payout. The AAC has significantly outperformed it's contract, and ESPN is going to struggle for content as their other P6 properties come up for renewal the next few years. There's plenty to sell:
1. Navy's strong success since joining the league.
2. Multiple high profile games with huge ratings (including strong ratings in every AAC championship).
3. The now red-hot rivalry between USF and UCF.
I'll also throw in here that Cincinnati is well on its way back to being the #2 team in Ohio, and Memphis is already a clear #2 at a minimum in Tennessee, both key football states. If UT continues to founder, I could see a day in the next ten years where Memphis passes Tennessee or draws even as a program.

Don't get me wrong - I've gone on record many times predicting $6 to $8 million per team per year in the next AAC contract. $10M is not out of the question, IMO... but to get a bowl tie-in will be difficult and may even require a sacrifice (and no, I'm not suggesting you cut a team loose! I mean compromise in the TV contract...)

I think that you should re-evaluate. Bowl committees are like a lot of fans ... "They're Bandwagoners!" The conference didn't lose the "Orange Bowl Tie-In" when it bartered away the "Big East" name, it lost it when we signed an extended low-market value TV contract. If you get the Conference Payout back up and have decent game attendance, they will seek you out ...
We've gotta distinguish ourselves from the other Non-P5 teams and we need to be getting more than the Big East Per Team Payout. Doing less than that will lead to even more conference instability, in my opinion.

No question though I'd have Topeka tech #5 and that basketball JC powerhouse as #6 ahead of KU.

From the get go instability pretty much sealed this league's fate unfortunately.
And everyone including tv networks were certain this league was all but a dead conference so tv $$$ and better bowl tie-ins that would of went this league's direction disappear in thin air.
That said anything under $$$ 8 million per will be a total disappointment.

Just curious as to why? Your team, VT has never really shared a conference with any of us except maybe temple for few years and Uconn in basketball for a few years...
Plus we are a geographically close conference to the ACC...competition to you.

Not accurate. Va Tech was in the Metro with Memphis (State) and Cincinnati from 1979, when Va Tech joined, until 1991, when Memphis and Cincy left.

I remember watching the Hokies play Memphis State, Cincinnati and Temple in football (I think VT was gone by the time UConn joined the Big East for that sport). Plus, even though VT never shared a conference with ECU (to my knowledge), they've played VERY often. Just wishing old acquaintances to do well.

I remember both Wardell Curry and Bimbo Coles shooting the eyes out of the basket at Riverfront Coliseum circa 1986.
