RE: Gregg Marshall's thoughts from last night on Tubby, Ollie, and Lomax...
What I don't understand is, if Lomax had any remote idea that Penny would become coach NOW, why did he even sign? Why didn't he wait until next month? Afraid he would lose his spot if Memphis didn't fire Tubby and hire Penny?
Also, Penny made it very clear in interviews today that he worked hard with Marshall to get Lomax there, so my guess is they really didn't see this coming.

Gregg wishes the best for Penny and assumes Penny had nothing to do with Tubby getting fired. Gregg went on to say that Penny was instrumental in getting Lomax to pick WSU........................
Gregg is amazed at what happened at UConn. He thinks Ollie also deserves every nickel in his contract. He said he felt bad watching UConn struggle. He knew something had to be done and went on to enumerate their national championships.

Does Gregg always refer to himself in the 3rd person during interviews?

When Lomax signed, Tom Bowen was talking about how great Tubby would be in Year 3.

I really think the plan was to bring Smith back until we lost to USF. The ECU may have gotten people talking, but things actually looked like they were getting on track for a few weeks, especially with the win against Houston. But the USF game just made the situation untenable.

The decision wasn't made until 2 weeks ago. And Bowen was about to go out and announce a third season for Tubby, but Rudd and the big cats changed their minds at the last minute.
