Hey Wheatshock, I get your logic about Lomax and Marshall. But this is not a typical situation. Penny helped raise Lomax, and the kid has lived with him for years. It is essentially a father/son relationship, far beyond basketball.

When Lomax signed with you guys, he and Penny had no clue Penny would be the HC at Memphis, especially any time soon. But Penny will be announced tomorrow. If the guy who raised you, and literally had the biggest impact on your life, became a HC in your hometown, what would you do, lol?

There are always ways to get out of NLIs, even if it takes a year, and then Lomax would have his entire college career to play for Penny.

IMO, it's not a matter of opinion what Lomax will do. It's just a matter of time. Never say never, but this is as close to being certain as anything can be.

I actually don't like the idea of getting wrapped around the axle with a conference mate, but in this case, it seems inevitable.

While I'm not going to argue anything you said isn't true. There is a lot that can be learned by having a different "teacher" than the one you've had all your life. The same goes with Grad/Undergrad school. I've always heard to not get your Grad at the same school as your undergrad as it's often taught by the same teachers. You learn more with new perspective.

I also understand your logic on the situation.

We should know more over the next couple of weeks and if I start seeing WSU involved with 2018 PGs this week i'll take it as a sign that Marshall knows that Lomax plans to stay home. We just haven't seen anything on that front which leads me to believe that Marshall still expects him to show up at this point and I can't imagine that he and whichever assistant was the primary recruiter aren't talking to Alex.

I understand both your points, and don't really disagree. It's logic. But it's also typical, and this isn't.

When was the last time you saw a major D1 school hire a HS coach/AAU sponsor, who raised a college recruit who played for him on both teams, and neither knew the coach would have a new job when the recruit signed with another school?

Tick tock, lol. Seriously, this is a weird deal.

And I don't think you would be hearing anything on your side. IIRC, Lomax has never yet been to the WSU campus, has he? If accurate, that's pretty weird, as well.

Lomax made at least 2 trips to Wichita during this past season.

There once was a kid named Lomax
Who should not be confused with the Lorax
With Penny hovering hear, Alex said his intention was clear,
If you don’t believe me, just look at my fax

Please stop with the non-sense that all of this just developed in the last 10 days. Gotta love all of the false info that Lomax has never been to Wichita etc. Do you Memphis fans know how to use the interweb?

Please note that "he and his parents" flew to Wichita. So Penny went to the OU game?

http://www.kansas.com/sports/college/wic...34684.html

“It was a great thing to see and it feels great to be a Shocker.”

After Lomax helped Memphis East cruise past No. 13-ranked Webster Groves, Mo., 80-45, on Friday night, he and his parents flew out early Saturday morning to arrive in Wichita around noon. They were even able to make their way to a tailgate before the game to meet with WSU fans.

“It was a great environment and there were a lot of really nice people,” Lomax said. “They made me feel comfortable and welcomed me home.”

Lomax had been to Wichita before, but never for a game.

He was impressed by the size of the crowd on Saturday and the noise inside Intrust Bank Arena. He was also filled in that it’s even louder at Koch Arena.

“They kept telling me it wasn’t even half as loud as it is at Koch,” Lomax said. “But I felt the spirit a lot and I’m sure it’s going to be crazy at Koch. I know what the potential could be.”

All of the false info? I said I heard it and said "if it was accurate." You said it wasn't, and I manned up and said cool. End of story. Same with the NLI.

"Started 10 days ago" not accurate? Lomax signed much earlier than that. And I know for a fact that two weeks ago, Memphis planned to give Tubby a third season.

You know, I really try to be an adult about all this, so you guys give me a shout when you feel up to that task.

"You know for a fact two weeks ago . . . " Umm right. I've heard your homeboy Gary Parrish talking about this possible scenario for months.

As to the article posted, I wasn't replying to you in particular, just addressing the multiple comments and questions about it. The fact that the question was even asked if Lomax had ever been in Wichita exposes some serious knuckleheadedness in your fan base.

I'm still wondering if Penny was one of the parents that flew with Alex to the OU game last December.

I think I am looking more forward to Lomax asking out of his LOI than Penny's press conference tomorrow. It is going to set off a rage in the Shocktards.

I've been watching Memphis win NCAA tournament games since the early 1980s. Long before anyone in America knew Wichita even had a basketball program.

And I'm pretty sure WSU had some pretty good teams people knew about in the 60's and 80's.

The Memphis Bubble probably prevented you from broadening your horizons.

Did he sign a letter of intent? What is the American's policy on interconference transfers? If they kept the same Big East bylaws, he would be banned from attending Memphis, even if released from his letter of intent. If the kid did live with Penny (I am not doubting it, I just don't know the whole story), the situation is somewhat similar to Doug McDermott. He signed with Northern Iowa out of high school, but when his dad got the Creighton job, UNI released him so he could play for his dad.

I'm not sure who will shed the most tears, WSU if he leaves, or Memphis if he stays. I say Memphis.

Ill bet you the average attendance for a UNI basketball game in dollars that Marshall doesn't leave. Deal?

Underwhelming bet. Northern Illinois averages like 5 fans a game.
