and they still dont have the sport that really matters. no matter what villanova does in the baxetball tournament it will be never be as significant as their brief life in a the manly sport of football.

The only good old school big east team is Villanova. Seton hall, DePaul, Marquette, st John's and providence were boo boo for the majority of our time in that conference. Georgetown was good then but times have changed.

Yep. As time goes on the NBE will slowly decline. It's just not attractive in its current incarnation.

If/when Villanova starts a football program, that will serve as notice they want out....

I don't see them starting a football team at this point. The time to do that was when they were considering it in the old Big East a number of years ago. While I don't think the NBE will drop down to the level of the MWC, they will be fighting with the Pac-12 for the 6th/7th best conference by the time realignment starts up again in 2024.
