With spring practice set to begin on Saturday, we continue our look at the Memphis football team. Today: tight ends
How does Memphis greet new tight ends coach Will Hall this spring? With two reliable and productive tight ends in juniors Sean Dykes and All-AAC second-team selection Joey Magnifico.
It's quite the present for Hall after spending last season as offensive coordinator at Louisiana Lafayette where he oversaw one of the nation's best in red zone offense.
"I couldn't ask for a better situation to come into," said Hall, also the Tigers associate coach.
The Tigers won't have to worry too much about their tight ends, and there are some new faces to get excited about this spring.

OUTLOOK
Hall said Dykes and Magnifico are stronger than they've ever been and both are working on being more physical in the run game and refining their route running and blocking. That makes sense given how the Tigers might lean more on the run while figuring out who will be the next quarterback.
Keep an eye on Edwards and Daniel, two freshmen that Hall thinks can make an impact in the spring. Edwards, who originally signed in 2017, joined the football team in January, and Daniel is coming off an injury that forced him to redshirt last season.
"I can see it in their eyes. They're both eager to show what they can do and try to earn time on the field," Hall said.
Edwards was primarily known for his blocking in high school, and Daniel was primarily used as a wide receiver before arriving at Memphis. Both have improved in the weight room.
Dill is listed as a tight end but he's a converted offensive lineman who has also seen time on special teams. With his size (6-7, 285), he could be used primarily as another blocking option.
There will be questions about Memphis' depth here going into the spring, but the good news is when you have two reliable options coming back in Dykes and Magnifico, it should make the competition behind them stronger since as Hall said, time on the field will be well-earned with those two seeing most of the reps.
