He coaches a HS team and an AAU Team. This is highly unusual. Right?
Are there any rules against this? Is he using some loophole? Is he just the sponsor of Team Penny?

He doesn't coach team Penny.

A lot will change for Penny if he becomes the coach. I'm willing to bet the NCAA creates rules just because of Penny's extensive ties to EVERYTHING. Which is why he is attractive as HC at MEMPHIS.

1)He sponsors and coaches AAU Nike Team and Events. He will have to give this up. Team Thad become Memphis' Nike Team? How will they smooth over their rivalry? Will they smooth over heir rivalry?
2)He has large Nike shoe deal. Will those rules change in wake of FBI investigation?
3)He is minority owner (partial) of Grizzlies. OK by NCAA rules/regs?

He use to coach Team Penny. He coached them when both KJ and Detric Lawson were playing.

HS coaches cannot coach AAU, so he stepped aside. But it's not unusual for HS coaches to organize or sponsor AAU teams. Even small teams in west TN are frequently tied to a HS coach in some way.

But, yeah, Gus is right. There will definitely be some changes coming to his businesses and possibly the rulebook.

Thad's team is sponsored by Under Armour. Mike Miller (M33M) is Adidas. Don't know that either would change their affiliation if Penny had to cut ties with his AAU team once he becomes a head coach of NCAA team?
