This page list the deadliest shootings in U.S. history. #1 is Vegas, followed by Orlando nightclub, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and the church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Others on there are schools but the top 10 also includes a Luby's (1991), McDonald's (1984) and San Bernadino (wasn't that an office?). The tower shooting at UT from 1966 is still in the top 10 for now.

These things are becoming so common that I don't even recall all of the recent ones anymore (Binghamton in 2009? - 14 people died there). The weapon of choice also seems to be moving toward the semi-automatic variety and not handguns.

No 1 solution is going to solve things IMO.
