ODU would be a top candidate if the AAC expands due to budget, location, and enrollment.

Problem is I don't see the AAC with incentive to expand anytime soon. At least not with ODU. Maybe if they got a haircut on their next TV deal they may want to cut travel costs but I think they'll at least hold ground on their contract. ODU may be a candidate for replacement but depending on what happens it may not be worth joining at that point.

I think it's no secret Selig desires a more regional conference but agree with Drunkard that this article is just a recycled realignment piece with the bit about the A10 thrown in for the basketball first fans that miss the old CAA.

I think it's clear schools have been talking and CUSA would have already broken apart if it weren't for the obstacles of the BB autobid and CFP contract money. I don't see much if any movement happening in the G5 ranks until the power schools begin moving again.

Why not? The AAC did. Its small time thinking that will lead to our situation never improving.

AAC is not a brand new conference, it is Big East football.

The AAC is CUSA. CUSA is Sun-Belt 2.0.

Bump for the TRUTH.

Also, recent poster is correct. The American has no incentive to expand. Their only concern is getting a guaranteed slot in a New Year's 6 game. Adding any team not currently in their lineup probably only hurts and certainly doesn't help that goal.

If CUSA is Sun Belt 2.0 so you're ready to start playing ULM in all sports right now? Where do I sign you up?

FTR I personally wouldn't mind playing ULM in Football. We already play them in other sports.

Next.

Good for you. Now, deliver me a consensus. No nevermind. Hell just get me proof of that as a majority view from your fan base or even your administration and I will concede the point.

Actually, CUSA 3.0 is Sun Belt 1.0. The current iteration of SB is Sun Belt 2.0.

Not sure why you care what the fan base as a whole thinks about ULM.

What do you want, a consensus of BBB posters? A consensus of Rivals posters? What is the purpose of following through with your command here?

Boards are bubbles, and group think is a powerful tool online. I know you know this, but then I also know that you can't resist stirring the pot. 05-stirthepot

Your administration and the vast majority of your fanbase has made it clear that La Tech and ULM do not compete on the same (level is the wrong term here but for a lack of better one that's what I will use here). In other words, in no way will Tech ever be in the same conference with ULM - to the point where you guys traversed hundreds of thousands of miles for a better part of this century from Hawaii to Boise to avoid having to be in the same league.

So, now you're going to tell me that - well - it's all the same now. So, what I'm suggesting to you is that I'm not stirring the pot I'm pointing out what you've said here is in the vast minority of your own AD and administrations policy as well as that of your fan base. And you know this to be true. So, which one of us is stirring pots?

We left for the WAC over a decade before UTSA even played a down of football. I think you're being obtuse for the sake of getting a reaction. If you're paying attention, the administration hasn't made any case against ULM or even insinuated that there is a snub going on in a very, very long time. In fact, there have been 3 administrations in athletics since remarks like that were made and the entire academic admin is different now.

I'm not speaking for Louisiana Tech. I'm speaking for myself. You can believe what you want, my fellow alumni are in disagreement regularly on this. Again, because you read opinions on a message board doesn't mean they are indicative of an entire fanbase. I'll repeat: boards are bubbles and group think is a powerful online tool.

I am still wondering (and you are still not answering) why you care and what any of this has to do with Louisiana Tech or CUSA for that matter.

RE: ODU plans to leave CUSA. Enjoy 1-AA
This is my "realistic ideal conference" I drew up about six years ago. Obviously the landscape has changed some in six years, namely ECU would be off the table as they aren't leaving the AAC for this league, MT also hasn't played Troy in six years and I am not as big on their inclusion as I was at the time.

Drop Troy, stay at 14

OR

Add Coastal or JMU(or drop Troy and add both)

With apologies to the rest of the west, I'd sign up for that tomorrow and only miss La Tech, the only program outside this footprint I'd consider, but for me the tighter footprint wins out.
