This should be the new site of the conference tourney.....

[Image: ?u=http%3A%2F%2Fkimberliekohler.com%2Fwp...mp;amp;f=1]

All conference tourneys should go here. They are useless, money losing, regular season nullifying, non attended wastes of time.

Let your division champs do a winner take all on the higher seed's home court.

End of discussion.

No worries, people!

Using this website...http://www.geomidpoint.com/

I calculated the exact minimum distance everyone would need to travel to meet. Which just happens to be near the Kemper-Neshoba Correctional Facility in De Kalb, MS. It only holds 400 people with 200 rooms, so you'll need to find a bunk mate. Medium security, so you can come and go as you please during visiting hours. Plus, they have 4 outside bball courts so we could easily work in the mens and womens tournament at the same time. For the food lovers, a number of Troy football players commented on how tasty the cornbread was there. MmmmMmmm.

Let me know and I'll book it!

I think an East-West format would make sense. Hot Springs or Shreveport would be pretty central for the Western teams. Myrtle Beach or Savannah might work for the Eastern teams. Going back to home courts is the only way we'll ever get a decent crowd, but it is really an unfair advantage in a one bid league.

we went to this format in 2015 in the asun where on campus sites with the higher-seeded school hosting each game throughout the championship the tournament runs from monday to the finals on sunday we (univ of North Florida) as the one seed got to host the finals in jacksonville inside the unf arena attendance at the game and a asun championship attendance record was set as 6,155 fans (which will not be broken by any other team)
attendance has been up in all rounds of the asun tournament snice moving to this format other then New Jersey Institute of Technology all the schools in asun is within driving distance of each other so this format works well for the asun not sure this would work in the sun belt

I would agree.

Need a destination City to make the trip more palatable/fun for the average fan.

I guess we would use Ga Tech's arena?

Or the Infinite Energy Center? Similar to Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

It's in Lawrenceville, GA, which is 29 miles from downtown Atlanta.

Let's just give it to the school that wins the regular season title. That or straight home sites it's getting rediculous. Karl can leave new Orleans once a year. Can we also stop the Sunday at 12 game as well and make it Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Even traveling from Monroe was a pain. Left at 6:30 or so in 2016.

He does leave New Orleans.

He just doesn't go to Jonesboro.

I support this plan. Let the lower-finishing division winner host a single wild-card semifinal if you want to throw in a little bit of extra drama.

A 2 night, 4 team tournament played in NOLA would be fine with me. Best teams go. NCAA bid goes to respectable representative.

The Convention Center would be perfect. Hotel inside of the building. Away from Conway too

I argued that years ago. But it's not going to happen. I believe every DI conference now has a tournament. I don't imagine ours makes much money, if any. And, of course, it hurts a lot more financially if a very good team (ex. this year's ULL) team gets knocked out and we lose a chance to get a NCAA tournament win and the extra money that goes with it.

It should definitely be in Dallas, close enough access for TXST, UTA, ULL, ULM, ASU, UALR

Thing is, the nature of a basketball tournament is what makes it so difficult for families to go. This year's Sun Belt Tournament is a Tuesday through Sunday. Entire families are not going to pull kids out of school for a week, take a vacation from work etc to go watch a basketball tournament when there is a high chance there favorite team might be one and done.

Go to home sites, let the highest seed host throughout. That's the only way we're going to draw anything more than flies for the tournament

Anyone who has been to NOLA by now already knows that despite being located in a "destination city" no one is showing up.
