Things are looking up.

As Frank indicated we are tied for fourth with WMU, who holds the tie breaker, but we play them next Tuesday in K'zoo.

Because of tonight's results we didn't get the big break on WMU, but we lead in the standings over both MIA and Kent and hold the tie breakers over both.

My guess: We need one more W to get a #5 or 6 seed.

If we get wins over NIU and WMU we'll all be going to sayers to see if we are #4 or say #5.

And as some have been noting, 'invincible' teams like UB and TOL don't look so invisible now.

When our team started poorly in MAC play I scheduled my spring vacation (So. Cal) for the same week as the MAC tourney. I've done that before and sit in a timeshare watching MAC tourney games... I remember two years ago when we lost the heart breaker to Big Dog and the Zips.

I think 9-9 will get us the #5 seed. BG losing tonight was a killer for them, as they still have to go to Kent and they host UB to finish the season.

Also, don't look now, but Toledo is only a game up on Ball State for the West title, and the cardinals have the tie breaker. The Rockets have a relatively easy finish, though, but it could get interesting if they lose another game.

Shocking: Buffalo is the ONLY team in the MAC-East with a .500 or better conference record. Wow.

It doesn't say it there, but Toledo has clinched a bye as well. Even if they lose out, they'd still be 11-7, and one of us and WMU can finish no better than 10-8 (since we still play each other).

Yes, if we win our next two games, we get the 4-seed no matter what if:

OR

-Toledo finishes ahead of Ball State in standings, as we would then have the 10-8 tie breaker over WMU because we split our H2H matchups, and have a better record over the best opponent in the standings (WMU went 0-1 and 0-2 vs BUF and TOL, while we went 0-1 and at the very least 1-1). And BG loses one more game.


Those would be the only ways to clinch the bye BEFORE our final game against Toledo. It would be nice to pull that off, so the final (very tough) road game becomes less meaningful.

As one of our posters had noted, the MAC East (other than UB) has gone lame.

Tonight two big MAC West games which effect seeding. The big one is BSU @ WMU. A BSU win and we are undisputed #4 in the MAC standing going into the NIU game. Kind of like going from the outhouse to the penthouse in one month... :) A month ago we looked like a MAC tourney ROAD team.

The other game is CMU @ TOL.

BSU blew a large lead and went into the toilet late vs. WMU.

A BSU win would have been big for us. Now the #4 seed is less likely for us.

For WMU it is simple, if they beat us Tuesday, they get a bye. They are guaranteed 10 wins. The best we could do is 10 wins (NIU and @TOL). They would have swept the season series.

BTW, as of now: EMU has the longest MAC win streak: 3W.

If records are tied and teams tied against each other, the spot goes to the team with the win against the highest seeded MAC opponent.

That would be us with a win over Toledo.

What Frank said. We need to win our next two games, and that will clinch the 4 seed. Nothing has changed for us. Take care of business tomorrow, and our game on Tuesday will be our biggest regular season game in a looonnnggg time.

When was the last time EMU MBB had a bye to CLE?

Are we talking about the tourney 20 or 22 years ago? (1996 or '8)

Curious with 2 games left for us (3 for some teams). How would YOU seed the teams, say 1 - 5 (or deeper if you wish), irrespective of their conference records.

The way they are playing right now I'd put EMU at #2 behind UB. That can change quickly though.
