From what I see they pay their assistant football coaches I’m guessing they don’t pay many people very much money. I’m not sure this is a financial thing but I’m thinking it might be… talented people work their ass off for little reward at Kent State…

They pay the AD too much. He is the highest paid AD in the MAC by far.

It appears both schools are not willing to invest in arena modifications, practice gyms or quality pay for assistant coaches but both institutions are going to invest in E gaming and offer scholarships and coaching salaries to play video games.

In 20 years or so we won’t even recognize the athletic department. Football will be replaced by soccer. Baseball will only be played on the Havana campus. Cross country will be gone. Not sure about track but it too might be gone depending on how Olympic popularity trends (I sense not too many people care any more). Wrestling will be gone. Golf will be gone because it is an elitist game. E sports will be number 1 in popularity. So far I can’t come up with a reason to eliminate basketball but I’m sure it’s coming.

and somewhere, someone thinks all of this sounds good. The only way this will ever fly with me is if they make sure they have a "hype guy", label Call of Duty as their flagship E-Sport and bump the ticket prices for soccer games vs. Akron and Cleveland State!

The big question is, will there be donor-based seating for e-sports?

If so, I am going to need to start saving now!
