RE: baseball!
Huskies have played two really solid games, with some very strong pitching. Good start.

NIU won the last game of the four game series against Western Kentucky 5-0 today as true freshman Michael Lasiewicz goes 7 shutout innings and is now 2-0 on the young season. He has pitched 13 innings without giving up an earned run and has 14 strikeouts. Not a bad start to his career.

What's the team's record now? Anybody know?

NIU is down in Texas playing the University of the Incarnate Word. Playing a doubleheader today. Took it on the chin in the first game, losing 17-0 in 7 innings, getting only one hit. Doing much better game 2. Up 13-0 in the top of the sixth, having hit 3 home runs including a grand slam by Samuel Vega.

Actually lost opener to Incarnate Word 7-3 and then got blanked 17-0, but came back with 15-1 victory. Taking 4-6 record into Sunday's game vs. Incarnate Word with hope of splitting four-game series.

Softball struggled in an 0-5 start but is 3-10 heading into Sunday games in Charleston, SC. Remember coach Christina Sutcliffe's program won MAC West in 2016 and was runner-up last year. Might be next NIU coach to be hired away.

RE: baseball!
It’s embarrassing what NIU has for a baseball program. Horrific outdoor facility. Mike is a good man and knows his baseball. His pitching staff has been awful during his tenure.

I hate to think it but if a sport gets cut it will be the baseball program. I sincerely hope they turn it around and gets some W’s and soon.
