I agree but there is a point. If the child is destroying something or hitting somebody (including me), that @ss is going to get a spanking. I dare a parent that refuses to discipline his own child say something, cause I’ll spank his @ss too. There is a thing called manners and respect, usually the kid acts that way because the parents didn’t teach them.

getting a paddling by the teacher was a non-issue in my world.....it was a rite of passage....and my parents knew I earned it one way or the other....like me mum always said, "Michael, one day your mouth is going to get you in trouble."

I have a brother that is two years younger than me.....if we didn't toss punches every other day until our early teens, we weren't breathing......one day, he finally beat my arse out in the front yard......we never fought again after that.....my job as the eldest was to teach him how to be tough.....his son enters as a second lieutenant in the Marines this June.....his son calls me "Boss" out of respect.....

I've been beaten and administered a beating.......

boys today are nothing like the ones from my day......it's a shame....I wouldn't trade those 'lessons learned' for anything....

I only have one daughter......we're in walmart....she's almost 4 and is grabbing items from shelves to ad nauseam.....I warned her twice to stop.....the third time, she got two fingers to the back of head.....

after that, I never had to lay a hand on her......voice inflection is a powerful thing with a girl.....I could make her cry with a look and deepening the voice.....

boys are different.....some just need their arse whipped...

regardless, it's not anyone other than the parents' responsibility to administer that type of discipline.....

i got the belt growing up by my mom or dad

at my grade school, the principle used a paddle, heck even the daycare teachers used paddles, etc.

it was just how it was, nobody complained and you thought twice about acting up

Dude I have a two year old. He's still learning and doesn't like to be told no.

I'm almost 70 and I still don't like to be told "no". My kids NEVER threw a tantrum in a store. They knew better. I didn't have to spank them or scold them there, I'd just promise them a spanking (in a soft voice) which they got if they insisted on misbehaving. They knew I kept my word.

After a while all it took was the look for my kids. They stopped whatever it was they were doing when they got the look. I was blessed to have two extremely well behaved kids though.

I didn't even allow my own family to lay hands on my kids. A stranger doing it wouldn't end up well.

Back in my day two guys fought until it was over and went their separate ways. I've ended up with at least one lifelong friend whose butt I kicked. These days a fight will get you killed.

I saw that video. My child would not be able to sit for a week. I still wouldn't hit anybody's child but you best believe I would not fly for 8 hours and not say anything. I think the airline should of done something as well.
