Campuses, government facilities and sporting/entertainment venues should have the right to decide if they want to allow firearms into their venues for safety reasons—I understand and get that. But they should be held responsible and liable for the safety of the attendees as that event organizer is not allowing individuals to protect themselves within the local limits of the law.

Same thing applies to clubs, bars, store restaurants etc

Hey, I'm all about gun rights. But, the last danged place I want a bunch of typical carry guys whipping out a side arm and cutting loose is inside a concrete bowl with nothing to hit but 86-101,000 innocent people. You might have 1 bad guy and that one might kill a handful before the thousands in his immediate vicinity tackle him and stomp his sorry butt to death, and that's if the stadium police don't get him first. You could multiply that death toll ten fold if everyone with a carry permit gets excited and opens up.

Perpetrators don't want to be in a situation where the public can get to them with such ease. U.S. sporting venues check purses, do body pats if they are suspicious, and have law enforcement strategically placed inside venues. In that situation I feel more secure knowing that everyone is to be unarmed.

Filling up at the local gas station is an entirely different matter.

But, courtrooms are the last place where people should have weapons and now most of them have metal detectors at work.

So as long as I may defend myself while in my vehicle, out in the woods, or in my home I have no problem with the laws. And I was trained. I have a relative who is one who carries on his hip and lives in an open carry state. Had that dummy had to pass a psychological profile before his permit was issued he would never have been given one. Hell, he wore it to a family Christmas function where he was mouthier than normal. He grew up a with great insecurities and he "feels like a man" because he now carries. IMO he's the poster child for why the libs want to take away the rights of the rest of us. He enjoys the controversy it causes when he totes it into the grocery store or restaurant. I figure somebody meaner and quicker is going to bust his skull and take his weapon and then everyone else will have to pay for his idiocy when some jerk punk gets his hands on a gun.

Personally, I don't want the perpetrator to know I even have one until he needs to find out.

As a former resident of both Tupelo and rural Webster County, I suppose the Mississippi legislature could balance perceptions about the state by passing a law which requires students to wear shoes to class and in campus cafeterias. Or is that a bridge too far?

Probably because a chiropractor or some other charlatan told them they needed to do something about that nasty toenail fungus. Or maybe they just like hookworms.

I'd rather see a bunch of Mississippi barefoot beauties than to see a bunch of Cincinnati crack whores and methheads.

I think you're done here.

JR, he knows very little about Southern women, lol!! Nah, I think the real reason Southern women like to go barefoot a lot has to do with the heat and how uncomfortable women’s shoes are in general. But I could be wrong. Regardless, I will definitely take a date with a young, barefoot Mississippi woman any day over any methheads or crack whores from anywhere. The are some fine young women from Cincinnati though. I used to work with one and she still flirts with me when she comes in to shop.

I know this post was mostly in jest, however, in TN at least in the campus cafeteria, it was a law that everyone had to wear shoes.
