Shaq Carr is history
Just read on Twitter Shaq Carr is off the team. Any Lopes fans know why?

Not sure, but the last/only other time someone got booted mid-season was Demetrius Walker for smoking weed in the hotel when GCU played at UNM. D. Walk owned up to his mistake, was genuine in his apologies to the team/university, and was allowed to finish his degree under scholarship, even though he was off the team. Whatever the unknown situation is that landed Shaq off the team, I hope he eventually has the opportunity to finish his degree.

I think the loss of Carr hurts the Lopes in point guard versatility. Benson is not all the quick to defend against smaller quicker guards. Milstead will be good eventually but as a freshmen he is not a player who Majerle can bank on to shutdown the more veteran point guards of the WAC.

Watch the play where AJ Harris goes full court in 6 seconds flying by Benson and Benson falls down trying to keep up. It's precious. Carr is much better than the overrated Benson.

Not sure how this all plays out, but you know folks are on edge in Purpleville USA when I, of all people, am being told by a player fan account on Twitter (that I assume is being run by a close family member or the player himself) to "Just stop cheering for @GCU_MBB and move to Las Cruces already."

People are losing their minds areound here, and it's actually kind of entertaining.

I hate that this happened. I personally think Carr was quicker than Benson, and more effective at beating folks off the dribble and penetrating in the lane. We will see how Milstead does as the season winds down. Next year should show us a lot more about the potential of all three freshmen this year. A lot of guys make their biggest step up between freshman and sophomore years. Milstead will likely start at point next year. Sometimes being forced to step up through necessity can serve as a catalyst for rapid improvement.

Damari may start next year, but I'd put money on the staff bringing in at least one grad transfer PG & one 2018 PG. Hoping Damari grinds w/TJ all summer to get ready, like 0 did before his senior season. That said, you gotta believe they will have plans B and C in place.

I don't believe he is even on campus anymore from what I've read.

the curse of high expectations. It seemed to me many at GCU were expecting to not only win the WAC, the Tourney, but win a game or more, and be a top 25 ranked team.

It still could happen, Majerle rights the ship, but the reality is GCU isn't that special.

RE: Shaq Carr is history
So i sent an email to Paul Coro from GCULopes.com. Since he writes the “insider” column for the website and is on the pregame show, I thought he’d have the scoop. While he thanked me for my support of the team, he said he couldn’t answer my question. So, no news there. Anyone have a link to a twitter or other source that might give more info?

I saw Shaq Carr on the bench in dress cloths. That made me even more curious why he is not playing yet Majerle is allowing him on the bench.

You and everyone else, dancing. The only thing MORE confusing last night was Gerard Martin running the point for a while. That did actually happen, right? I would honetly feel much better if I somehow dreamed that, but I'm pretty sure it actually happened.

Yeah. I mentioned that in another post while watching the game. Martin was running the offense. Lack of confidence in Milstead? Hey Demari, great job but we are gonna let 6’7’ Martin handle the ball. Can Tim Finke get here sooner?

I saw somewhere on twitter that he is injured and out for the season. Per school policy, he is no longer on the team. I’ll see if I can find it.
