I don’t get the ESPN hate. ESPN has certainly had its missteps of late but the network has been VERY good to this conference. Of the G5, the AAC by far get the most national exposure. ESPN is a big reason for that.

I chuckle at the notion ESPNNWS or ESPNU is "national exposure". Those obscure channels of theirs require you to be subscribed to "Top 300" type packages which people are ditching.

Still on 70 million TV's and also accessible anywhere via ESPN-3/Watch. Even CBS-Sports is in 60 million homes. Go check out where CUSA games are. The AAC has excellent visibility. ESPN talking heads certainly tend to treat the AAC poorly--but the AAC exposure is at or near P5 levels. 04-cheers

I'm not surprised by this. You had to have lived through the dissintegration of the oBE to truly know the evil that is ESPN. Since you didn't, it's no surprise you think of them as some benevolent entity.

Also do you know why the AAC gets all of this great national exposure? Because they're contractually obligated to do so, that's why. It's adorable you think they're doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

ESPN was rocking when it was a sports outlet. Once it got invested in certain leagues and not others, the bias started to hurt the brand. They have priced themselves out of profitability, tarnished in part by the oBE, and are bleeding badly. College Sports bubble is a concern to many, as what happens to these student athletes, bonds used to build stadiums based on future TV revenue, and other expenses associated with the building and upgrading of facilities.

The oBE was ESPN’s guinea pig, the screwed the BBall only schools, then didnt really learn anything.

ESPN was great when it aired NWA wrestling, the NHL, and Arena Football.

Ok, that i definitely agree with. However, that doesn't translate to respect amongst the talking heads shows that dominate the channel.

Hmm... I think you might be confusing the meaning of "availability" with "exposure".

For example, it seems that during every AAC football or basketball game, the talking heads take every opportunity they can to pimp the upcoming prime time game on the flagship ESPN channel featuring their favorite "power" conference, exhorting everyone to watch that game even it there is an AAC game on the same time slot on ESPNNWS.
And then they'll also pimp their favorite P5 players, even while play is still going on during the AAC game.

The effect is to steer viewers to to watch the "power" game over any other game. THAT to me is "exposure". Our AAC games are available, but the exposure is given to the "power" conferences, not ours.

But I don't have any numbers to back up my argument, so I'll have to take your word for it.

You don't like the new format, where they push the 4 entities they own (NBA, NFL, SEC, and B1G) the 22 hours a day they don't have a sporting event to show.

It doesn’t matter to him where you rank, only how he can fudge the numbers of who you beat or lost to.

You should listen to his radio show here in Memphis. He's such a loser.

ACTUALLY NBC is the big reason for that. They offered that deal and ESPN had first right of refusal so they match that offer or say no and we go to a competitor.

I also like ESPN (9) The Nueve. Your best Spanish speaking sports outfit since Azteca America. Next contract I'm looking foward to an UCF v Houston matchup in Espanol!!
