RE: James Rapine
Rare occasion listening to the little one on the drive home. Business as usual to discuss anything, except UC, after a UC game.

I called Rapeen's producer. His explanation was UC had plenty of coverage with the game and post game. Eggs also played and is a Cincinnati team. His words were ... "we will eventually talk about UC." Wasnt happy when I made a remark that Eggs is Norwood's JC or that I understood Cunningham picks the programming. I asked him if 700 was UC's flag ship station. Crickets. Must have irritated Rapeen, since he went on a diatribe after they came back from commercial break. He took a couple Eggs callers who took shots at UC.

I'm sorry; it's not outrageous to think that based on alumni size and fan support that UC should get dramatically more local coverage than X. Not a shot at X who has a successful program an extremely loyal fanbase but that fanbase is nowhere near the size of the large public school who's graduated a large percentage of the local population. Heck when UC hater Lance McAllister does his poll on who's your favorite college basketball team X finishes behind Kentucky and the two don't even add up to our support.

This is a good comparision year since both teams are ranked right beside eachother so you can't say well ones having a great year while the other's having a down year. UC should probably get about double the local media that X gets when the teams are having similar years, anyone think that's happening?

I don't care that X gets coverage. In general X doesn't really bother me, I will even root for them on occasion.

The thing that bothers me is the almost blatant ignoring of UC immediately after the game. Also rarely do any of these guys ever do any in depth coverage, it's normally a weekly interview with someone like Chad Brendel. However if Andy Dalton farts they need to talk about it for 2 hours.

Agreed. Why are the Bengals even mentioned now that they have resigned Mediocre Marvin. Bengals coverage should be minimal until the weeks leading up to the draft and then be silent until training camp.

I want to 03-banghead with the around the year Bengals coverage.

I called to find out the excuse for not discussing UC. One of my points was UC's larger base. Many were already listening due to the post game just ending. Heck, a few weeks back I heard Ludwig was talking Eggs fball after a UC bball game. A program that went the way of the Dodo over 30 years ago.

Remember, their explanation for not covering UC football more is that it doesn't move the needle. They, apparently, are now saying X basketball moves the needle more, after a UC game, than UC talk. BS. They want to talk about the underdog/little guy in town.

Lol when did I say I would want to lose to them? If we beat them, I like them to be good for our numbers. I honestly don't know that many hardcore X fans, so its really not that big of a deal for me. If we recruited the same players, I may have more reservations but Mick doesn't recruit this area very much.

I am fairly sure that James Rapine, Mo Egger's producer roots for X on air as to balance out Mo's love of the Bearcats. Move on. Nothing here to see.

So I looked him up - it's actually James Rapien.

Evidently he is a UC grad and more of a UC fan, but with an odd way to phrase it

Here and there on 700WLW and ESPN 1530. I earned a journalism degree from the University of Cincinnati. I hope Xavier wins every game, except those played against my Bearcats. The Bengals and the Reds are my favorite teams, even when they lose. Chad Johnson was my favorite Bengals player growing up, even if he couldn’t read the playbook. Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback ever. It baffles me when NBA players miss half of their free throws and when Major League Baseball players can’t bunt. I am a Cincinnati native. I put hot sauce on my 3-ways and ketchup on my fries. Lover of most music, but country leads the pack. If you see Taylor Swift, make sure you ask her out for me. We both know she’ll say yes.

I used to listen to 1360/1530 pretty much from sunrise to sunset. I pretty much turned it off when they got rid of The 2 Angry guys. You guys are much more informative than any talk radio show, so this is where I tune in.

You nailed it. Those on this board know more about UC than anyone on Cincinnati talk radio. I'd also extend that to sports in general.

I never liked the 2 angry guys. I still remember them saying that UC would never get a better coach than Minter and that UC would always be a doormat in the Big East in football. They then went on to say that UK was great.
