You nailed it. Those on this board know more about UC than anyone on Cincinnati talk radio. I'd also extend that to sports in general.
I never liked the 2 angry guys. I still remember them saying that UC would never get a better coach than Minter and that UC would always be a doormat in the Big East in football. They then went on to say that UK was great.

In fairness, Richard Skinner was the one of the two who said that. He is a UK fan. Tom Gamble is a UC and an OSU fan.

Maybe it is beyond the control of the current guys on the radio, but back when the Angry Guys where on they would discuss topics other than the Bengals and Reds 24/7. Those two would always talk college basketball and football (they used to have an old segment called The Old Ball Coach were Skinner would make picks on upcoming games in a voice of an old southern FB coach).

Second, the best sports talk radio guys come in pairs. Nobody wants to hear one guy up there talking to himself and callers. They want the pair to offer humor and to rip on each other (and other guys on the station)--- the Angry Guys were good at that. Even back then they referred to Lance as "Goober".

Those guys were goofy and entertaining. Fortunately, we can all now laugh at the Skinner quote about UC never getting a better football coach than Minter. But the fact remains, they spent a lot of time on college football and basketball and that has pretty much disappeared altogether from sports talk in this town. A curious programming decision.

Sports talk is just so stale. You could pick any random show from the past 15 years, take out the specific names and not know if it was a show from yesterday or 2001

Furman would talk CBB just about every night as well (of course, he liked to stir the pot). I always believed he favored XU as well which would infuriate me.

IMO, I don't care of that much if they aren't all UC homers, but it would be nice.to get more college ball and fball talk during the season. Right now the programming is about 75% Bengals and 15% Reds and neither team is in season or have a draft going on. I would rather them talk about the Cyclones or HS sports than the Bengals right now and I'm a Bengals fan.

Agree-- as someone else pointed out the formatting is just so stale. The content has been the exact same for years now--- Lance and Lap, Lance and Rocky, Rocky and Mo or Dan and Lap at the Belterra or some other sports bar talking about the same topics. Its boring as hell.

I get the genre is going the way of the dodo bird, but if there is any hope at keeping it around a little longer they need to overhaul their format and bring in new voices. They need to mix it up, cover some different content. A one hour CBB show would be welcomed where they have 2-3 guys talking local teams (they can't take any callers-- I don't want Cletus calling in asking a Bengals question or wanting to know when Pete was going to get in the HOF).
