The people in the room were aware of those numbers...They just didn't care.

Yep.

But, if anything, that is WHY Kenpom, not RPI, should be used. It wasn't really a "thing" back then and I was even mocked for referencing Sagarin or KenPom as better measuring sticks than RPI.

You take everything to heart
Relax :)

Don't take it to heart, just that it's not easy being right all the time and still having fools doubt me.

yet you wonder why you're mocked

Pretty dumb to mock someone who pretty much comes out being right.

Just makes the folks look silly after the inevitable "time will tell" post is bumped.

But people continue, so I'll have my fun.

Lol... The deal is no one else cares enough to bump posts when you are wrong and you sure as heck aren't going to do it

Haha.

"Don't want to" and "can't" are entirely different things.

Just look at Tigx's desperate attempts to so. SAD!!

Thinking the same thing

Yep. Saluki cuts and pastes recruiting rankings, and thinks he has written Shakespeare. "Not easy being right all the time?" Please. Inflated sense of self much? Mommy must not have given him enough attention when he was little.

I will say this, Salukiblue gets mentioned on the Tiger podcasts on almost a regular basis by Mark G.

Both.

The two go hand in hand--researching and compiling the data in a coherent form adds a lot to this forum...or any forum for that matter.

People usually have to pay someone to generate clicks like that to their website.

And I don't see anyone else doing it. Posters mostly play off his work.

The coming months could be a test run for a new tool that eventually replaces the RPI in the NCAA tournament selection committee's evaluation of potential at-large teams.

RPI is the traditional and polarizing barometer used in the analysis process leading into Selection Sunday. For the first time, committee members will see rankings from ESPN's BPI and Strength of Record, KPI, Jeff Sagarin Ratings and KenPom.com next to the RPI on the official team sheets used to assess each program....

It is nice that we finally have proof that they have been using the RPI all this time, despite some posters insisting that they haven't been.

That's an interesting twist to try to wriggle off the hook. But you failed.

Exactly. I know of times where he was off. Zero desire to spend time going back to locate it though.

Statman and Robin? Or something more obvious?

Bittah doesn't become you.

You guys play off his stats. You get incensed. You let off steam. You have a blast jockeying for position.

Like it or not...that's just true.

He keeps you coming back.
I'm just someone you take an inadvertent swipe at on occasion. lol

Agree. However all of these "objective" data devices are based on "subjective" rankings.

Not true...

By the end of the year RPI, KenPom and Sagarin are purely stat driven...No human components at all (no recruiting rankings\ no polls \ no previous season rankings).

ESPNs deal is a different story unless they have changed it recently.

Both lost 2 games this week to unranked teams

Both SMU and Houston are ranked higher than Texas and ISU in Kenpom

WSU dropped 10 (7 to 17) spots and TTech dropped 6 (8 to 14) in the AP poll...So much for objectivity.

I am not expecting it, but I hope the media will hold the Committee accountable for selection and seeding that fail the “reasonable person” test when considering the metrics not just on selection day but through out the off-season.
