Yep, they are 7 - 12 behind the arc. That's scary.

Jackson and Minnie pulled after some sloppy turnovers. Wonder how long Ellison gets out there.

So if I follow the game:

We get the highlight plays (e.g., Bond's play) while OU's Dardis shoots the trey like he is in the gym practicing.

And Dardis is now 7 / 9 behind the arc. That would be good if it were FTs.

That'll about do it. Fitting that it's with Jackson recklessly driving into a charge.

Dear Friends,
We will never beat any team that makes three pointers like Ohio is today. We have not helped ourselves with sloppy play, and leaving a Ohio player under the basket undefended. That play alone has given Ohio six or eight points.

Buffalo might beat us by 40 on Tuesday.

The box score tells the story. Just look at the 3 point shooting.

One team took 18 shots and made 10. The other took 17 and made 6.

The Story goes way beyond that Steve. I saw one team that could pass the ball around constantly searching for an open guy. And I saw another team that just dribbles into a crowd and hoping that something will open up. One team had a plan. One team has no plan.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Murphy will never coach a team that wins the MAC Championship. His teams will never over achieve or play with the execution we expect.

I'm done going to games where he's on the bench.

Buffalo is close to Syracuse so I'm sure Murphy I'll have a nice homecoming. Maybe the team could sneak out of town before he realizes they're gone.

Clueless offense overcomes our defense this team doesn't show any passion or fire most the time its like they expect the win to be handed to them which is why inferior talent teams like bowling green and Ohio u beat us at home

Jackson has a bad habit of dribbling into a crowd with no chance at success. Too often he is out of control. Thompson needs to do a better job of passing out of the post also. There were a few times where he got the ball and was immediately triple-teamed with a teammate wide open at the perimeter in front of him. That pass is there often. He played his ass off though.

I'm not going to criticize the players though. These small details are the fault of poor coaching.

Thompson was mostly great. Groce had a good game, as did Bond.

Everyone else looked completely lost, especially Jackson. You can blame Murphy for that (which I know you do), but it's not rocket science to pass to an open guy when you have three defenders around you that are all bigger than you. Unless you're Russell Westbrook, and Jackson definitely isn't Russ.

Murphy should be scorned for keeping Minnie on the bench for the entire closing stretch until Bond fouled out. Ellison wasn't doing anything that stood out, so I have no idea why he played crucial minutes with Jackson on the court at the same time. Keeping your best scorer on the bench when you're trailing late in the game is a fireable offense by itself. I wonder sometimes if he's trying to lose.

Jackson has good vision and passing skills when his head is up. But too often he lowers his head when driving to the basket- and that is when he runs into a crowd, misses open players, misses shots. (It is totally what Toney used to do at times as Sam points out). Anyway, my sense is he does this out of desperation to make a basket but it is counter productive. Coach needs better offensive scheming so his players don’t feel desperate.

And of course I agree Thompson is poorly coached and utilized.

RE: Game Day: Ohio
Time to move on from Murphy. He has the most complete team since 2013-14 season, yet this is the worst MAC start yet. That was the easiest stretch of MAC games that could be expected- four at home and only one top half projected team in Ball St on the road. To be 2-4 coming out of that is absolutely horrendous.

I don’t think EMU is a horrendous team and will bounce back, but certainly are not contending for anything... with Murphy as coach.

Can't disagree with that. When you lose to bad teams at home, and are 2-4 in conference play with the hardest stretch coming up, the writing is on the wall.

He needs a pretty miraculous finish to save his job.
