I think the computers say Buffalo. UCLA gets the sexy factor, but they don't look like a tournament team. Maybe SMU.

I think we are going to need to be WSU 2 out of 3 of we want a shot at a protected seed. We are lacking in the big win department.

It's definitely gotta be at UCLA, right?

Yes. I don't care what the computers say. We can't say our signature win is against an undefeated in conference MAC school with all due respect. Miss. St. and Wyoming have both crapped the bed in conference play and UCLA is starting to have to change their sheets. But, we beat UCLA on their floor and their only other home loss is to Colorado - a conference foe. I think UCLA beating Kentucky on a neutral floor helps too. Buffalo has lost to S. Dak. St. and St. Bona. (home) in addition to us, Cuse and TXAM. In conference play, SMU is the best thus far but beating them in Moody would be better. WSU - obvious if we beat them at least once.

Everybody's losing... Let's just win out. Win all of conference play, win the AAC tournament, robbing someone else of their hopes and dreams.
We had our usual scare games in Florida this past week, I think we could take the whole thing this year.

Wait, what? We have a signature win? Crapped the bed in every opportunity IMHO.

Not sure a road loss to Xavier warrants the phrase "crapped the bed at every opportunity"

"every opportunity"

You mean both? And if you count Florida on a neutral court as an "opportunity" then you undoubtedly have to count UCLA on the road as an "opportunity", in which case we'd be 1-2 in signature win opportunities.

Honestly, at Xavier was the only true signature win opportunity we've had....and we weren't winning that game....Mick's teams have to age on their own, he doesn't do much.

RE: What is our signature win right now?
I am not sure with concept of "signature win" even matters anymore. Too many metrics out there that can tell someone if a team is good or bad. About 20 years ago, the NCAA selection committee looked at team's RPI and how they did in their last ten games. The "eye test" and "signature wins" seemed to supplement the other two criteria.

What is UC's best win at the moment. Depends on what you look for and would get a different answer. Only Buffalo, SMU, and UCLA are going to in the mix an NCAA tournament bid and neither of those teams are going to top level seeds. Buffalo has to win the MAC's automatic bid but will probably have the best RPI of that group. I would go with the win over SMU at home over the win at UCLA because the Bearcats destroyed a team that I believe will end up as an 8 or 9 seed by the end of the season. (Still can't believe most brackets project them out when already have wins over Arionza, Wichtita State, Boise State, and USC). UCLA on the other hand is going to finish with 9 or 10 PAC-12 wins and likely NIT bid.

By the end of the season. UC will have wins over picked a few top level wins over Wichita State, Houston, and SMU.

RE: What is our signature win right now?
This thread is great.

Speaking of which, what was UC’s signature win in the Final Four year?

They lost to the only two teams with a pulse they played OOC (Indiana and Michigan State). UC completely pissed one of those games away, too.

Perhaps wins against Tennessee or X who did not even make the NCAA field that year?

Although we did lose twice in the regular season to the Great Midwest Champions (DePaul). Those had to be opportunities for signature wins, no?

I think we just have too much time between games. 03-lmfao

Pissed away both Mich St and Indiana. Big leads at halftime on both smh. March is all about matchups which we’ve been remarkably unlucky with lately. Hoping we break the jinx this year. But this is a fun team to watch. Enjoy it folks!

Beat Wichita State at least once. 16-2, outright league champions, no worse than a four seed if the Cats hit those marks. Anything better is a 3 seed. 15-3 conference mark opens the door for a seed in the 4 through 6 range depending on tournament results.

I'm not going back to double check, but didn't we have some great wins in conference? Wasn't Memphis (i think they might have still been Memphis State then) pretty good at that time? I think they had, Penny Hardaway, and another kid that ended up in the NBA.

Too lazy to go back and fact check, but i seem to recall loving seeing us go heads up with them. Van Excel and Penny were fun to watch. Coulda been the EE season, but pretty sure those were good teams we were playing, and beating.

Just win baby. As Rath pointed out - kenpom, bpi, sagarin, rpi look good. Two games ahead of Wich St in standings and control our destiny. I see Wich and Houston as opp's to pick up some good wins.
