Well, it sure can be if a cow or horse urinates on it. I have always said that it's best to avoid eating hay to eliminate any risk of toxicity.

This is most likely caused by excessive nitrogen in the urea in cow's urine. This toxicity will do it every time. I suggest that whenever you visit a farm or zoo containing hay, you get a certificate attesting that the hay has not been urinated upon. Just tell them that you have an allergy to the toxicity exuded by freshly-urinated-upon hay and you want to prevent any serious reaction. I'm sure they'll understand. Toxicity is a terrible thing.

I would have liked to have been "Oliver" with the lovely and well-endowed Eva Gabor as my wife. I'd struggle through her "hay allergies".
