My feeling is we played and struggled against a bunch of weak teams earlier. I always thought I saw a few glimmers of hope, but the Cincinnati beatdown was awful.

So, a couple of decent whis against Tulane and Tulsa. Still only mediocre teams, but better than we have wins against so far. Plus the play of Parks.

Then a rd win against a Jeckyll or Hyde Temple that can play. Again more Parks improvement.

Then a home game against a bad UCONN. And we did what you should to bad teams. Beat them down early, pushed the accelerator, and played the walkons at the end. Plus best game yet from Parks.

I enjoyed it. The wait and see approach you are advocating was mocked repeatedly and dericisively earlier this season on this board, so I won't do that to you. Just really hope we can all enjoy this.
Good post 72.
Yes 72, I was mocked for the wait and see approach, also deemed a Tubby Lover who is fully on the Tubby Train despite countless posts that go against the theory.

Anyone who claims to be a Tiger fan and yet isn’t enjoying the run right now clearly has an agenda. I’m concerned about Tubby’s recruiting and have been since last summer. I am hoping he fixes the issues but in the meantime the whole purpose of playing the games is to try and come out victorious. At the moment we are winning so, how can one claim to be a Tiger fan (not a coach lover) and not enjoy this run??

I this specific case there are are 2 interpretations with multiple reasons for each. Those reasons would be agendas. Some agendas are really highly motivated and some are just trivial. Agendas color the way we post, whether we are are conscious of it or admit to it. It is humman nature to see and present things that fit our view. Complete objectivity is pretty much non existent and when it does exist, so vanilla as to be useless in presenting ones view - i.e. a giant database of statistics. The statistics must be interpreted and filtered to present one's agenda before they become useful.

In this specific case the two basic interpretations are:

You are on Tubby's ' 'side' or you aren't.

There are multiple reasoning paths (agendas) to be on either side. I land on Tubby's side of the interpretation because I like the guy, like the style of play, and like kind of players and system he institutes. My posts are colored by that. That is my agenda.

Others obviously vary.

Of course there are agendas. Mine is simple. I really enjoy Tiger basketball. I don’t care who the coach is, Tubby, Pastner, etc.

Some people here have some strange anti-Tubby sentiment. They hope “their” team loses so they can hire someone else.

I support this team, and by extension, the coach. Logically, if Tubby succeeds, so does my team.

Just throwing it out there. Some agendas are more up front than others, thus are more annoying, especially to those that have opposing agendas. That's why we are at each other's throats so much IMO.

Absolutely... A few weeks ago he looked like he had no business playing basketball at any level above high school. Now he is having a major positive impact for us. I have to give Tubby a lot of credit for sticking with him and letting him figure it out. Also, have to give Parks a lot of credit for not getting in his own head and continuing to work and progress.

Well said.

Another important point is Parks is being very active without getting into foul trouble. Really all of our guys defend well and rarely get into foul trouble, despite playing an aggressive man-to-man D most of the game. Another indication of good coaching.

I thought that having players not get into foul trouble last year was a miracle, given how undersized we were at every position. That along with being very good at running when the opportunity presents itself have been Tubby's strengths.

Stated before the LSU game that if we are able to split the next 10 games that we are doing better than expected and Orlando has done a decent job. We are actually in a position to do just that and that means we won at least 1 game which i did not believe we would win. Actually it has been two. The split with Tulsa and the win at Temple.

Not saying we are post season worthy at this point, only that we are not as bad as we looked earlier this season. Most of that coincides with the turn around of Martin and his play those four games. He is still the key to how far we go. Hate to imagine what we would look like if he is slowed by the injury for any period or if he had actually quit earlier as the rumors had stated.

Orlando may actually finish above .500 in conference for the first time since leaving UK. A lot that however may be due to the middle pack of the AAC not being as big as we originally thought and some teams not as competitive as originally thought. Few could have foreseen Temple and UConn being as bad as they have shown so far. USF and ECU maybe. Now with the loss of Fall we may see UCF drop into that group of 4 and expand it to a group of 5. You have 3 teams which stand out in WSU, UC and UH leaving us to compete head to head with the remaining 3 for finishing position. We are in a battle which could see us finish as high as 4th and as low as 7th. That is IF Martin returns to full strength and responds to treatment soon. Conservative treatments depending on how severe the injury take 2 to 4 weeks to fully recover. Am sure that our PT department will use more advanced treatment methods and could cut that period down somewhat.

I am the obsessed one when you remark not once, but twice to my single post? Thanks for bringing a smile to my face as I type.

The ever vigilant Tubbyphiles seek opportunities to express their righteous ire and I am pleased to oblige. 03-wink
