Awesome news!

Welcome to our Bronco Family, Wyatt!

Lester has recognized he needs depth at QB. He now has more than most of the G5 programs going forward.

I agree it’s good, but we’re in a different era. Kids want to get on the field. The days of waiting till your RS junior year for your shot are over.

Kids aren’t afraid of competition, but with lax transfer rules in the works, kids aren’t going to stick around.

If Wassink is beat out in the fall, he’ll be gone in 19. If Godard drops below either of the new guys, he’ll be gone. If at some point Elerby or Rector are going on year three to get a shot, one or both could be gone. We have offers out on QBs for 2019, most to kids who will get a lot of P5 attention. I doubt we will take a QB next year, but hypothetically if a QB like Sam Johnson at Southfield were injured and P5’s backed off we’d still be in the hunt for a high level talent.

Another question mark is RS Fr Chris Riddle. Has good measurables and had lots of P5 inteeest before blowing his knee and heading to prep school. Elerby is an early enrollee. If he has a good spring he may not redshirt. Rector likely will.

In 2019 that would make the following classes of QB.
Wassink Senior
Goddard Junior
Riddle- RS Soph
Elerby- Soph
Rector- RS Freshmen

I’m impressed these kids have come on board knowing the competition will be stiff. That said, they won’t all be WMU grads.

I think two on your list could be gone by '19 at latest also. Lester wouldn't have gone after two highly rated QB's otherwise. Interesting to see if Wassink is fully recovered from the shoulder issue. QB is always a high turnover position. Look at the rating services, some still have Flacco and Cam Thomas in the rotation at WMU

Also I think Wassink is 5th year redshirt in 2019. He can go anywhere even if NCAA rule stays the same

Pretty sure Lindsey Scott looked at the situation unfolding at QB and will choose Missouri or Tulane (unless he already announced).

Thought he committed to Mizzou a week ago.

He did. WMU wasn't even listed in local reports down there. Hard to pass up P5 SEC school. His family can see him play at several SEC schools closer to Louisiana

RE: QB Wyatt Rector
I don't really think all these guys are going to be attracting scholarships from other D1 programs unless they distinguish themselves on the field. Being a backup, or lower down on the depth chart, on a 500 WMU team isn't exactly a resume builder. Wassink and Goddard' performance on the field have not exactly been highlight film worthy. If one of these talented quarterbacks that are coming into the program comes in, gets playing time, and dazzles with his performance on the field, the likelihood is that he may be happy where he is, and will get all the playing time he desires right here.

Man, talk about Yea of little faith. In your world QBs don’t develop. Teams we play never lose personnel. If players were injured last year, they’ll be injured this year. We are perpetually in a static state of mediocrity.

Come on Judge, I get it, you’re an Army fan now, I’m sure they have a message board.

Really? If it's so bad how did WMU get this outstanding 2018 class? Very few coaching changes result with instant success. Toledo has pulled a few off but they haven't exactly won the MAC title every year while losing coaches on a regular basis. Goddard was playing HS football just a short while ago, Wassink hadn't even taken a D1 snap until USC game. How does Goddard have major success when he his handing off to a converted DB and four RB's are on crutches/boots the last two games. This was his redshirt year until Flacco left for Rutgers.

I know we lose Philips, Sam Beal, Okarofor to the draft. But I think this year we should be a somewhat dangerous team, hopefully can make a decent bowl game. Anyway, here's my schedule predictions.

Syracuse: W *Syracuse has the best QB WMU will face in '18
Michigan: L *Tough game hope we put on a show
Delaware St: *They will be eligible after that bad press
Georgia St: W *Rising program, no guarantees in Atlanta
Toledo:L *Rockets resemble '17 Broncos, lost much of their offense
Central M:W *Must win
Ball State: W * Must win, weak team
Northern Illinois: W *NIU and WMU will be most improved MAC teams in '18
Bowling Green: W * Agreed
Ohio: L * We will beat Bobcats in Kazoo
Miami:W * Another improved team.
Eastern: W * Agreed

Does that make us favorites to win the conference? Hopefully we can knock off Michigan or Syracuse, that would give us a good shot at cracking the Top 25 rankings assuming we can take care of business in conference. I thought delaware st is FCS, hence the whole florida st scandal...?

Makes us favorites for a better season. Knocking off Michigan? That could be a struggle.

Just trying to think of who else the favorite would be? And harbaugh is a chump.

Cuse- Loss. They’re an improved ACC team w/a good QB

scUM- Defense is too good. Loss

Delaware St- Win

GSU- Lost to Idaho last year. Win

UT- Get them at home. In a semi rebuild Win

CMU- Great year to get them on the road. In a big rebuild. Win

Balls- Win

NIU- At home. Our toughest MAC game IMO. If healthy we win.

BG- Improved team, road game. Close Win

Ohio- Home, MACtion game. Narrow Win

Miami- Down year do to key injuries. Will be our toughest road MAC game. Loss

EMU- Home. Well coached, always seems to find talent. Win

Idk, Syracuse traveling to Waldo for the season opener, will be a tough environment to play in. They've got that senior dual threat qb but anything can happen. We'll see.

An 8 win season is a reasonable expectation.
