B1G (Kansas, UConn)-Regional rivals for Nebraska, Rutgers
B12 (Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati)-Go metro, build toward WVU
AAC (St. Louis, Dayton, USM, ODU)-Take in A10/CUSA outliers
CUSA (NMSU, Texas St)-Add west...UAB to the east
SBC (Liberty)-Troy to the west in FB

This would go a long way to smoothing out geographical issues in these conferences.

I don't think you'll see UConn in the B1G anytime soon, unless their football program becomes a perennial top 25 or at least bowl eligible.

Conferences like the B1G and SEC aren't going to expand unless the candidate(s) can add value ($$$) to the conference above and beyond what they're currently getting.

One has to ask, what does each school currently make per year and would adding someone like UConn ADD to that number.

Precisely. The B1G is already at a very big 14 member conference... they are only going to expand if the school adds huge value in terms of top territory that the BTN doesn't include (UConn doesn't fit here, nor does Kansas) and/or being a football blueblood (UConn also doesn't fit here, nor does Kansas). Additionally, if that candidate doesn't bring the DMA nor football pedigree, then they definitely would not get the pass for not being AAU, which UConn is not, but Kansas and Iowa State are, amongst the potential sidekick addition candidates.

So pretty much if the conference expands barring a NCAA mandatory P4 expansion protocol, UConn is all but eliminated from contention.

B1G will likely only be expanding if any of the non-PAC/SEC/ACC prime targets (Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma) decide to come onboard. And possibly whomever else they decide to bring aboard as add-ons would be considered. Highly unlikely UConn would be in the picture here.

Nah, I'm aware of who is in my school's conference. I was just responding to the ridiculous notion that the Sun Belt owes Liberty an invitation with another ridiculous notion that C-USA should instead take them and give up one of their Texas members to the Sun Belt.

Gotta have 10 to have a CCG. To ever make a NY6 bowl a Belt team would need that to help boost. If TxSt jumps and JMU won't come in, I say the Belt target an unhappy CUSA-E team. Or Missouri State

EKU will always be available in a pinch.

15 years ago the Sun Belt was the stepstool of FBS. Now, I'd rather be in the Sun Belt than the MAC and possibly CUSA. CUSA does have longtime FBS programs like Rice, Southern Miss, and Marshall but schools that were in the Sun Belt since the BCS years have done VERY well - Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Middle Tennessee St, Western Kentucky, and North Texas. Unless the money is just worse, it wouldn't surprise me if the CUSA Florida twins made their way back to the Sun Belt.

At 9 football members with each football team playing 8 conference games would be a round robin schedule which does meet the requirements to have a CCG.

Mind blown. I like TxSt in the conference. However, CUSA reaching out to them and NMSU would be a no brainer to get to 16.

Missouri State is one we haven't talked about lately but with Creighton and Wichita leaving with no backfill their direction they may be receptive.

They've always been receptive to CUSA but lukewarm on the Belt. The 10 way money split in FB might help.

There's little desire on either side for a return of the F_U teams to the Belt. They're doing well now. But they really aren't much of a fit with our existing lineup. We're more compact and homogenous without them and they appear to be happier in CUSA. Win-win.

Missouri State isn't serious about moving. I think that by the time Missouri State get around to making a move, that the whole situation will probably have changed.

Your points are probably right. My main thing here is that the Sun Belt has come a long way!

Yea, even after a down year for the conference, its clear that the reputation still is improving. Next year could be a real breakthrough year for the conference.
