How sturdy are the tables in the Italian restaurants in Storrs?

RE: Ollie's replacement
I was thinking tonight while listening to the OSU-Nebraska game on the way home... what about Thad Matta? The only real concerns about him are his back/foot problems, but with a year off to rest and hopefully find better ways to manage his health, I could see him doing very well at UConn. He is a proven winner, a guy with a good reputation character-wise, and would be a splashy hire. On top of all of that, he is only 50 years old, so he has a good 15 years left in the tank if he can stay healthy. Thoughts?

Not my first choice, but if healthy, far better than what we have now.

Not a terrible idea. He did well at UCLA and did well at St. Johns. What was the reason for the split between him and SJU?
They were pretty piss poor before he got there, he went to some tourneys and had them going in the right direction, now they are piss poor again.

Lavin had trouble recruiting New York. For that reason, he wouldn't be a good fit for UCONN either.

That's interesting. Not sure if he'd wanna leave a comfortable Miss St job for another program with some unrealistic expectations. I'd be in favor though.

I would think it is easier to win at UConn than MSU. And he turned a terrible Pittsburgh program around.

RE: Ollie's replacement
I have this recurring nightmare where I wake up to the news that Larry Brown is the new head coach at UCONN. I’d be happy for both but for most SMU folks it would be worse than having to watch Pony Excess on a continuous loop.

He needed to resort to a booster giving Rysheed Jordan's mom a job in order to land good recruits.
