WTF STF Secrecy
What is it about Sean T. Frazier and NIU athletics when it comes to making announcements? After six years with sub-.500 records, women's soccer coach John Ross is let go. Fine, put out a release with the proverbial "starting a national search" just to make certain we get the best possible candidates.
The Chicago suburban area is one of the country's deepest pools of girls high school talent not to mention nationally-known club programs. Virtually every Division I women's soccer conference recruits this area. Not only are there NIU alums but specifically former Huskie women's soccer standouts who have had tremendous success either in IHSA state tourneys or working with some of the nation's top club programs.
It's inconceivable that NIU cannot be a perennial MAC contender. Ross had one .500 (4-4-3) MAC showing (2014) and after his first season (8-9-2 in 2012), always had single digits in wins and double figures in losses. Between 1994 and 1998, NIU had 10 or more wins four of five seasons.
But from 1999 to the present, the one and only successful year was 2007 (10-5-5 overall and 6-3-2 for third in the MAC).

Did the same thing with the men's soccer coach. The only way anybody knew about it was because a former player received an email from the coach from what I remember.
Where is the release saying "John Ross fired as women's soccer coach"?

No official press release on the defensive coaching changes yet. The Chronicle today has an article on it but cites the information is from "sources".
