I always thought of long snappers kind of like umpires or referees...the less you notice them the better they are. Very underrated position. Their execution can have a huge impact on games! Welcome aboard!

You never heard Wyatt Pfiefer's name. He was that good. Very underrated position. Special teamers can make or break the whole team.

Looks like we got a good replacement.

No, the major sites don't give stars based on position. These sites that rank specialists give stars differently, based on whether they're a D1 prospect or D2. The kid listed as committed to Incarnate Word doesn't even have a ranking on 247 or Rivals.

They rank by position but the star and overall ratings are just overall talent. In theory there could be zero five stars at a given position (in fact there usually are, at kicker, punter, LS, hence the specialist sites ranking them separately).

Point is that no, Incarnate Word did not pull a legit five star player. Neither did EMU last year with their long snapper recruit. Dip was being facetious with our "four star" LS who is in fact a preferred walkon.

Rubio's Long Snapper Ranking has the Incarnate guy as the #34 LS in the Country for the Class of 2018.
